Queen's Death Paralyzes Hive

Post by Steelpoint » 06 Aug 2015, 13:21

Summary: Akin to a few Alien media, if the Alien Queen dies all Aliens that exsit would be temporally stunned for a small duration due to the shock of the loss of their Queen. The duration of the paralysis would depend on what tier level of evolution said alien is, with lower level's aliens being stunned for longer.

Benefits: This would both discourage Queen's from charging blindly into a combat situation and encourage Queen's to stay away from the fighting, but also encourage Marines to target down the Queen (more so) to help hinder the Aliens even if only for a few moments.

Nope, this is metagaming. Marines would not know the big bitch is actually the queen just because they're huge. They need to witness them laying eggs and such to figure out that the queen is the broodmother.

This feature would also do nothing but assist metamarines in steamrolling the aliens they know NOTHING about in character.

The in game description of the Queen, the one you get for shift clicking, clearly states that the Queen is, and I quote directly.

"The biggest and baddest xeno. The Queen controls the hive and plants eggs and royal jelly."

This is the IC descriptions, just as every other description states IC information about aliens, so its not meta to assume that the biggest and baddest looking xeno is some kind of commander of sorts.

How the fuck would you know that by looking at a sprite?

The descriptions are way off, no person would ever figure any of that by just looking at it.

So the most powerful defensive member of the hive is killed and the entire hive dies immediately.

How about we don't.

I think your all misinterpreting what I said. I said that if the Queen dies all aliens are STUNNED for a few moments, not killed.

Did you know in Aliens that the Marines figured out that a Alien Queen exists before they even saw the Queen just by looking at the eggs and facehuggers and making a logical deduction from that. Furthermore the person that figured that out was not some researcher but a grunt marine private.

I say no to this because the marines already target the queen, no queen would readily go into combat knowing they were gonna die, and it would discourage other xenos from assisting the queen if they believe she is about to die, because that stun time could be their death too.
I'm stressing way too hard about what to put here, so I'm just gonna leave it blank.... or....

I said the entire hive dies immediately because they all got stunned during combat and therefore all got shot down.

Because the only time the queen is really in danger is during a hive siege.
