Making the rocket launcher two handed
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):Yeah, as it is, the rocket launcher is pretty damn powerful. But, honestly, the fact that I can carry a riot shield in one hand, and a rocket launcher in the other, is simply unfair. it makes it almost impossible for aliens to take down the rocketlauncher carrying specialist, if they're staying nearby the other marines.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Would add a bit more realisim to the game, and would help aliens a bit in this regard.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Simply make it two handed, like the m4a1. Honestly, I should not be able to kill most of the xeno horde single handed, without the fear of getting spit, and paralysed.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Coding, I guess? Got nothing on that hand.

From a gameplay perspective, I'd say a tenative +1, I don't see it used that often.
From a realism perspective, if you've seen the approximate size of an RPG, which is what our rockets are based on, it would probably not be too hard to one hand. Remember, you rest it on your shoulder. Also, rocket launchers are basically recoilless.

The SADAR is Beeeeeg in lore. Its not the size of an RPG, but closer to a javalin. These are your HAT not your LAT weapon systems and most require two hands to operate, let alone aim.Evilkyle24 wrote:From a gameplay perspective, I'd say a tenative +1, I don't see it used that often.

Wiki says the SADAR is a lightweight fire and forget launcher 90cm long. Its made of carbon fiber. The thing probably weighs like ten pounds.
Now, the M83AM SADAR AMAG is a horrifying beast of a weapon that has four tubes and fires multiple megathermal payloads with a single four rocket salvo. That is not what we have, however.

I'd be okay with it being two handed.

Re: Making the rocket launcher two handed
I don't really see a reason to do this, considering how powerful the Rocket Launcher is already making it two handed won't do anything balance wise, nor do I think the Rocket Launcher needs any big balancing changes.
Honestly the SADAR is a rare weapon, at maximum you'll see four of these and I've never seen more than two SADAR's during a game. These weapons should not be unwieldy to use.

The balance would be not being able to use a shield with it. Right now you can use a riot shield and a rocket. Which sounds a little odd.

+1 on two handedness. Damn, I thought it was two handed already, to be honest.

-1. If weight is the issue on could argue you balance the SADAR on top of the riotshield while crouching quickly to fire. The SADAR we have is also supposed to be lightweight, a reload delay is all it really needs. It's supposed to be OP and easy-ish to use to some degree, it's a specialist weapon.

+1, simply unfair, considering you have two by default two hand a shotgun also.

Like I said earlier, in case nobody noticed, it makes sense from a gameplay perspective but canoically the thing weighs like ten pounds. Its less than three feet long and made of carbon fiber.

This issue is not the weight, the issue is you cannot aim and fire a tube with one hand if you want to go roleplay on it.Evilkyle24 wrote:Like I said earlier, in case nobody noticed, it makes sense from a gameplay perspective but canoically the thing weighs like ten pounds. Weight has nothing to do with it, although the AK-74 is 'two handed', and weighs 6.7 pounds. But lets compare apples to apples.
AT-4 / Carl Gustav = 14.8 lbs / 22 lbs : single shot / reloadable : fiberglass tube / steel tube
M-72 LAW = 5.1 lbs : single shot : fiberglass tube
The weapon system is a recoiless launcher of either the gun or rocket type, likely closer to the 16.6 lb SMAW than anything else currently fielded. I could name a thousand examples, but at this point the burden of proof is to name a single such system that soldiers are not trained to fire with both hands. No trained operator would try shooting this weapon one-handed, and any untrained operator would blow himself up. I can provide footage of the latter, if need be.
