Disallow intentional breaching of the Sulaco
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Add a rule disallowing intentional breaching of the Sulaco. Aliens don't care about pressure, so they should have no thoughts on breaching, and breaching as a marine is just dumb all around.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Less aliens winning from atmos because they breach and suck all the air out.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Not too much else to add.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Rule Editing

+1 So many rounds have been ruined with holes in the Sulaco.

+1 Honestly, this can be solved by making the walls, floors, and windows unacidable/unbreakable. It certainly is a tactic for the aliens, though. We did out number them greatly, but they won with an atmos victory. I understand both sides, but atmos lag usually sucks.

The problem is, if marine or alien accidently causes breach, only marine will be fucked up. That is the main problem, I guess. From balance point of view, it's totaly unfair, from lore it's right. Dunno even.

Please. +1
Under no situation should an xenomorph should fuck up the Sulaco and ruin the gameplay.

It's rare that it happens, because Admins and Mod will flip out if they catch Aliens doing it. A marine breach only usually happens when they fire an AP rocket in the hangar, it seems to destroy the tile it hits.

Please add in no intentional breaching by aliens. I have seen aliens doing it intentionally. But since it isn't in the rules, there isn't much we can do about it.

aliens do it to win dude, can they even IC'ly understand the concept of space? do they even know that their hosts need or or what breathing even IS? intentional breaches are bullshit on both an IC and OOC level, spare metal to repair this shit isn't as easy to find as it was on the nostromo or old sulaco

Re: Disallow intentional breaching of the Sulaco
We had a shit show of a round that was dragged on for a ADDITIONAL TWO HOURS because the sole surviving Queen intentionally breached the Lower hanger deck's atmo, forcing the Marines to evac (or die) and thus was able to slowly capture and regrow the hive.
There were no admins on as well, so the round when from a guaranteed Marine victory in two hours into a horrible four hour Alien victory due to the Queen abusing atmo breaching.
You should not be able to breach the Sulaco, intentional or otherwise. Its just utterly stupid simply because it does nothing to Aliens but it utterly wrecks Humans.

I'm all for this. I get that it's rather rare to see an atmos victory, but it's absolutely horrible to witness when it does. Even worse to be a part of either faction when it happens.

Re: Disallow intentional breaching of the Sulaco
+1 I watched that round yesterday with the single queen spending two hours on the sulaco and eventually winning because of the atmos greytide. While it is likely this was the only was they stood a chance to win, the whole depressurizing and then reprussurizing thing was causing the queen to just screech, let all the marines weapons get pulled away from them because of the breach and then start smacking the marines around who now have no weapons....seemed real OP.

Re: Disallow intentional breaching of the Sulaco
Well we already are preventing the breaches from happening, either by just preventing the wall from melting, or just repairing the breach itself. So...Yeah.

Re: Disallow intentional breaching of the Sulaco
+1 to this.. it kind of fucks up a round and as Sulaco doesn't even have enough oxygen tanks to equip to two full squads.

Re: Disallow intentional breaching of the Sulaco
Might it be better to just give the sulaco more oxygen tanks?
I mean, Maintence Techs have to job of fixing breaches.
But who's intentionally breaching?

Normally aliens if they board.apophis775 wrote:Might it be better to just give the sulaco more oxygen tanks?

If you do end up adding more oxygen tanks lockers make them more spread out and have alot of them due to the amount of players we have.
Maybe a couple of lockers per department ?

Wait, how do the aliens breach? the outer walls can't be melted.

Apop the blast dorms and the back wall of the hanger are breachable. Some alien breached the blast doors and a crusher accidently rammed in the back wall putting a hole in it once.

Re: Disallow intentional breaching of the Sulaco
what are you talking about? the outer walls can TOTALLY be melted, they do it ALL the time, one of their favorite places to do it that i can tell is the maint tunnel right outside of medbay storage, just this round a drone tried to get the one in O.R. 2 to cause a breach but that section of the wall is 2 squares thick so he got chased off before he could do any lasting damage.
perhaps you intended for them to not be meltable but in current ver that does not seem to actually BE the case, i dont know if this is just something that was lost in the transition from old CM to alpha or if there is a mapping issue but the problem DOES EXIST.
if it was just them melting the floors thats a quick and easy fix (relatively), some grilles on the square combined with floor tiles, even an idiot could do it, repairing the walls on the other hand requires space suits and metal supplies we just dont have.

Re: Disallow intentional breaching of the Sulaco
The walls can be melted. A queen won a couple weeks back as the last alien(prior to facehugging the last few people) by hiding in engineering's lower section which had become a vacuum hallway. i.e. air kept flowing in and out causing everyone to fall over and have their guns sucked out into space.apophis775 wrote:Wait, how do the aliens breach? the outer walls can't be melted.
The windows there were broken.

Predator bomb going off plunging the sulaco into chaos and death. http://i.imgur.com/DsGxEOH.png
I'd probably be down for allowing breaches but currently with rarely any dedicated non-SSD engineers there is just no point in having it there as it fucks the round over for aliens and marines.
Seriously as it currently stands any breach fucks over the sulaco which in turn will kill most the marines from O2 and aliens from being flown around like a damn pinata due to pressure.
Things that cause breaches:
Chem nades.
Predator crit explosion.
Crusher charging into any outer wall.
Spitter or anything in that class line melting a wall or area into space.
There are probably more but from the top of my head these are the ones i main remember.
