Colonial Marine Officer Uniforms
Hi guys,
I'm tossing around ideas for a new uniform for the Commander and the Executive Officer. In their current outfits I made for them, I worry they look a little too distanced from the troops they're leading. In short, they look like they're in the navy while the Colonial Marines they're leading look like ground troops. I also worried that their outfits (brown, black and white) strayed a little too far away from the general green & tan color scheme of the USCM.
Here's what I had in mind for the CO (left) and the XO (right).
Any thoughts?

Neutral as well, I kinda like how the high command look more detached, reminds me a bit about Gorman's appearance.
Also I think the presented XO's 'cap' looks bad.

They look nice, but for a commander who is essentially the captain I think traditional captain uniforms would do better.

A bit too grey for bright individuals like CO and XO.
You never asked for this

Aren't marines part of the navy? I think the navy colour fits and the Sulaco is a "space"ship so the navy colours fit again.

Re: Colonial Marine Officer Uniforms
It is correct the Marine Corps are a department of the Navy, however they function as their own branch. Generally the Navy and Marines do depend on eachother heavily. For both transport and support. But Marines have their own rank structure, MOS ratings, and Chain of Command. I'm all for the new uniforms.xywenx00 wrote:Aren't marines part of the navy? I like new uniform, it's different, but not eye-hurting and good for environment. (I mean, it's good with general colours of server.)

Re: Colonial Marine Officer Uniforms
Higher ranking officers need armour that stands out, so that they can be easily identified.

Higher ranking officers shouldn't really have armour at all as they shouldn't expect to have to enter combat.

In "Aliens" universe USCMC is a standalone force, and has its own ships for transport, not part of the navy per-se.xywenx00 wrote:Aren't marines part of the navy? I think the navy colour fits and the Sulaco is a "space"ship so the navy colours fit again.
On topic-current colour is good for "field" uniforms, adding "dress" uniforms in white or black or some other cool colour wont hurt.

Right now marine's armor have few different random sprites, when you wear it. Can we have more of them, different camo, and also different camo on marine uniform? Black, dark green, brownish green, a bit lighter green and so on? That would be awesome and pleasing to eyes.

I have nothing against the current CO and XO uniforms.. They should be very distinguishable IMO

Re: Colonial Marine Officer Uniforms
I actually changed the BO and XO uniforms a couple days ago. This topic is a little out of date.
I might touch up or replace the CO uniform. But I'm not sure.

The uniforms as they are now, aren't actually that difficult to see across a room. A commander walks by and everyone knows he/she is the commander. The colors suggestion would be nice, but the brown look actually doesn't look that bad IG.

Re: Colonial Marine Officer Uniforms
I vote for a change to look more like a marine commander. For example:
Just give him that with a green officer's hat and it'd be complete.

Re: Colonial Marine Officer Uniforms
Yea, I like the current style of the uniforms for the bridge crew and commander.
I think giving them armor and such, won't fit.
and remember, there's a reason officers wear the same armor as privates. So that the enemy can't tell the difference on the battlefield, this will be especially important here.

So you don't like the tan armor for Bridge Officers and the XO? The main design change I would propose would to be have his shirt match his pants.apophis775 wrote:Yea, I like the current style of the uniforms for the bridge crew and commander.

What about just a kevlar vest for bridge staff? They match anything because they're worn under your shirt.

Yes for more realistic officer uniforms.
