Predator Self-Surgrey

Post by UnknownMurder » 16 Aug 2015, 19:56

This is a Simple Suggestion. I'm not going to get detailed with this.

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Predators should be able to gut out bullet shrapnel, fix internal organ damage, and most of the surgrey on by him/herself.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): So, Predators doesn't walk around wounded being unable to do anything.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Being able to operate on themselves.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Coding.

Ya shit like this is not a proper drawback for balance.

+1, it's lore related and a predator uses a surgical kit in the first movie on himself.

So long as the process of surgery takes some time and forces the Predator to yell out in pain, kinda a balancing point considering he can do surgery on himself.

+1, I'd love to be able to get those bullets out of me, and maybe re-attach my foot.

Yes yes and yes. Just add a little 'Alien Medical Kit' to the pouch that contains some surgical items that work for various things. Also so anti-biotics or something to healing crystals because infections are a bitch too

Predators are already essentially impossible to kill. Let's not make it even godmode-ier.

I personally think that if we are going to balance them, it should be in other categories besides something that has simply been overlooked. Sure they could use nerfing in other categories but that doesn't mean that there should not be a, quite logical, surgery option for them.

Then put up a nerf suggestion first, because right now predators need balance more than 'fixes' which buff them.

And we both know there won't be predator nerfs. The coders love playing predator too much. Just yesterday predators got their helmet buffed from 6 facehuggers to like 12.

I believe there was already discussion put above of how to balance preds doing this self surgery. Such as making them roar and giving off there location during the procedure. Either way, if the predators are bothering you then you should make the nerf suggestion.

Last I checked, preds get fucked by even a few bullets. Internal damage is a bitch.
+1 since it takes a while and forces them to roar, giving away their location.

Could always just adjust their armor to be more resilient to allowing internal damage to take place.

I'd totally open a predator-only surgery clinic if I could for RP reasons though.

Shrapnel and Broken bones are annoying...pretty sure preds always go with their own field kits on hunts.

People who get to play a role, and understand it, will generally understand more about how that role functions than those who don't play that role and often come into confrontation with that role.

See Security on any SS13 server.

+1 for thematic reasons. I honestly thought this was already in.
Regarding balance issue, I agree that Preds are a bit OP, but nixing this idea rather then addressing that concern is the wrong way to go about it.
So, yes, implement this and yes, find a way to make predators less overpowered.

Or they're just acting in self-interest, which is overwhelmingly more likely.

Playing as a Predator. I realized that the way the current health system works simply makes it 'annoying'. It made my experience as a player un-enjoyable. That alone is enough for it to be changed. If you don't want to die to a Predator then drop your gun on the ground and take off all of your armor. Then I'm sure we won't touch you ;3

+1 IF the preds are actually killable, as in having armor and health of two marines, not three Ravagers.

And this is meta, my friend, and against the rules.
Marine characters have 0% chance of knowing anything about predators, not to mention their code.

I still would because that would be considered metagaming.

The code shouldn't be known by marines.

As long as you don't randomly shoot or actively engage a Predator who isnt bothering you... youre fine.

If you interfere with him hunting a xeno or another Marine.. youre introuble.

Or any antag role.
See: People bitching about vampires/changelings/wizards
My only advice for people who bitch about that is either "get gud" or "shit happens".

+1. I thought something similar was implemented already, wasn't sure as my app hasn't been approved or denied yet.

It is lore friendly and would be perfectly balanced if they roar while doing it and it takes time like normal surgery steps. It'd make the pred think about finding a location and hoping no one comes by mid-surgery.
