Sirnat's trial moderator application!

Post by sirnat » 17 Aug 2015, 20:14

Byond ID: sirnat

Colonial Marines Character: Nathan Ward

Age: 18

Gender: Male

Timezone: EST

On average, how many hours are you available per week to moderate? I've just graduated highschool, don't have a job so I can give many hours to moderating during the week.

Do you have any previous experience in being staff (not just SS13)? I've ran/admined many garry's mod rp servers, not dark RP but serious RP. Latest one I was an admin of was a STALKER RP, I've been admining in various garry's mod communities/game modes on garry's mod.

Did you play any of the previous Colonial Marine servers? No.

Have you had an application to Colonial Marines or New Eden denied before? No.

Are you currently a staff member elsewhere (not just SS13)? If so, where? Nope.

Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on Colonial Marines? Nope.

If a player was shooting everyone in briefing at round start how would you deal with the situation? Hmm, bwoink him and ask why he had began to open fire on the players in the briefing room, if it turned out he was a troll/minge (Proven he already was by attempting to mass rdm) by saying "lolderp" or "salty" I would then issue a low timed ban, maybe a day, or a few hours, and give him a note so other admins would know how he acts in the future.

You notice that a xeno is breaching the Nostromo and is unable to seal it with resin. How would you deal with this and what punishment would you give for a first offender? Alright so on this it's tricky, if the guy is new/first time offender of doing anything like this I'd actually bwoink him, and ask him what had happened, if he had made the breach on accident or thought maybe a floor tile would be underneath- or that the atmos wouldn't screw everyone up I'd give him a note and send him on his way, letting him continue the round. Now, another part of this, is if it killed any of his friendly aliens, if it killed any players (putting them back at larva stage basically) I'd bwoink the players whom died and tell them of the situation and the person being a new player and if they had a heavy complaint about it, if they did I would inform them that the situation was handled and apologize for their grievances, but that if they truly felt something more should be done about the situation I would give them a link to the forums for them to create a ban request as I would feel I did what I felt was right in the situation.

The marines want the nuke codes to detonate the Nostromo because they claim they are losing too many marines. There are currently 4 aliens and 20 marines in your /who. What do you do? Me, I don't do anything but I do attempt to contact a head of staff for the marines, as I am not of rank to do such. If a headmin was not online, I would attempt to bring up an IC excuse as to why they couldn't get it, maybe make it a little funny as, "Apologies Sulaco, the clown is causing a ruckus in the records room we can't handle your call right now, please try again later." maybe something comical to give everyone a laugh.

A Sulaco Medic has made several napalm grenades and hands them out to marines. One of the marines throws the grenade into Logistics. There are no admins or other moderators online. What do you do? Alright so, first I would bwoink the doctor and possibly jobban him/ban him from server for a lenghthy time as rule six implies it's a very heavy rule to be broken. Then for the marine who threw it, I would try to speak to him and ask why exactly he threw the grenade in the first place/even took it from the doctor knowing what it was, I would give the doctor and the marine a note, do what I said to the doctor, and I don't think I'd ban the marine so long as it did not harm anyone else/break anything and give him the warning.

What would you do if a player started to talk about the things he did to your mom last night? Try to calm him down, and ask if I maybe done something to anger them, if they continued they would recieve a mute from me so he couldn't harrass me more.

Any additional information you'd like to add?
I know I am new to this community, but I was brought here by a friend and I've yet to have any kind've problems with any of the staff or even getting in trouble. I'm applying because I feel I can help the community more by assisting in keeping the players in order, trying to keep everything okay with everyone. I'm attempting to be more involved with the community by sharing my thoughts on things around the forum, and in my eyes the amount of players we get every day seems to be a heavy load on the administrators as I can only imagine the amount of ahelps there are each day.

Thank you for reading, Nathan.

The answers look mostly good, just a few points to address:
- When enforcing the rules on this server, you want to make sure to enforce the spirit of the rules, not just the words. On serious RP servers in Gmod, that is not the case. If someone accidentally shot you on dark RP, they would have full permission to kill the perpetrator. The rules on this server are not set in stone and can be interpreted to suit the situation.

- Some of your answers revolve around what other staff members think. This application is to determine what YOU think. While this application isn't bad, I'd go back and modify the answers that relied on other staff's inputs. In these situations you're role playing as if you have full administrative verb and control.
I'm stressing way too hard about what to put here, so I'm just gonna leave it blank.... or....

+1, I've known this guy a while and he's a good Role-player. Though, the 2 weeks haven't been acquired is a problem.

At this moment this has been denied until further notice given your forums account is not two weeks old.

My +1 still stands, and it seems you've made some posts, but there'll be plenty more where that came from, right?

I see potential at the very least, I'm not opposed. Neutral mostly.

I don't know if this will help, but I can also offer a lot of time to the server as I've graduated highschool and won't be starting college until the next quarter. You've no worry of me just being on during weekends, or having to resign because school or work gets in the way!

-Neutral- Your answers are somewhat decent but I have no immediate recognition of who you are IG. Additionally, your 1st and 3rd questions could use additional details, whilst your "Mother" question in my opinion also lacks a warning before the mute.

Ah yeah, forgot to mention I can't play until the 17th like I usually do. You'll see me more, and when I get on I'm not much of a marine player I mostly play as alien, and when I do play human I am mostly a doc.

As I've said, I havn't beenable to be active until the 17th, for the fact of my internet provider. It resets every 17th, and thats when activity can pick back up.
