Standard Issue TNR shoulder lamps
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Make shoulder lamps standard for any combat personnel.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): in virtually any installment in the Alien franchise, colonial marines have a standard-issue TNR shoulder lamp on their armor, not just the squad leaders. I believe that this feature should be made standard.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): The TNR would replace the flashlight, and could be operated as such. When attached to the armor, it would run the risk of being broken upon torso attacks. As an added bonus, this would give aliens a reason to not just attack the hands and feet. The damage could be repaired by using a screwdriver, adding some wire, and then closing the panel. The light would also be more powerful if wielded in your hand.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): I would suggest creating a new sprite for the flashlight, to match the look of the light as pictured below. Other than that, just add coding magic to make it an armor add-on and add sensitivity to damage.

...I like this idea a lot. Even more so now that I know that it's actually canon. It seems like a really reasonable idea to me.

+1 I hate flashlights. They just hang off your belt and you have to duct tape them to your waist so they aren't pointing downwards so you can see what's in front of you.

the way this game works, the better flashlights we have and the easier they are to use, the better for all marine forces.

+1. I usually keep a pistol with a flashlight attached to it in my pocket, this'd free up space for another mag of ammo.

Then wouldn't it be useless to take the rail light?

Perhaps flashlight attachments would go only to ROs? Just so there's no confusion with fixing/modifying flashlights.FreddeX91 wrote:As long as I can still modify it and turn it into an flashlight attachment to my weapons I am all for this!

All lighting effects 'stack' and give off more light when used at the same time. Rail lights won't be useless but they won't be required anymore either.

I think this is a good suggestion, considering most Marines would get a pistol or two and slap a flashlight on it to have some basic visibility.

Re: Standard Issue TNR shoulder lamps
There's a reason why this is only for SL. Is so that, marines doesn't run off on their own with their big light source. However, attachment like this should be expensive.

Re: Standard Issue TNR shoulder lamps
Just make two different types of shoulder lamps, the SL one that is very powerful and a standard one that is the equivalent of a normal flashlight.

He's not suggesting making it any more powerful than the default flashlight..Edgelord wrote:Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): I would suggest creating a new sprite for the flashlight, to match the look of the light as pictured below. Yeah this light would be akin to a normal flashlight. Certainly not "big".UnknownMurder wrote:There's a reason why this is only for SL. Is so that, marines doesn't run off on their own with their big light source. However, attachment like this should be expensive.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the reason people follow their SL isn't because of his light source.

The have a gun flashlight.
They have a bag of flares.
They can stuff their light sources in their pocket.
Why even bother doing this?

You'd be hard pressed to find a fan of the Alien franchise who opposes adding lore-friendly material that doesn't unbalance the game and (potentially) adds a small degree of it.

Re: Standard Issue TNR shoulder lamps
Every marine already has a flashlight in their pocket, probably paired with a rail flashlight on their gun. There's really no reason to be concerned about this mechanicaly, just resprite the flashlight and make it an attachment to the M3 pattern armor.

Re: Standard Issue TNR shoulder lamps
The reason why Marines go out of their way to slap flashlights on random pistols in their pockets is because there's no other way to hold a lightsource that does not take up room.
