Vrai's Trial-Moderator Application

Post by Adjective » 20 Aug 2015, 02:22

Byond ID:
Ajective (My account Vrai has been lost, due to the fact I disabled the google email attached to it and google won't let me recover the email do to their 30-day Policy)

Age:
17

Gender:

Male-Female (Gender Fluid)

Timezone:

UTC-8 / PST

On average, how many hours are you available per week to moderate?

On average 20-30 hours a week, longer play times during weekends.

Do you have any previous experience in being staff (not just SS13)?

I was an Admin of a Minecraft Server called 'Avalon', I had worked on it for about 4 months, before the server went down from DDoS attacks. I have also been a moderator previously, my staff resignation had been posted due to myself going into a surgery and needing three months to recover.

Did you play any of the previous Colonial Marine servers?

I have not, I joined around 7-9 months ago. I played on the Nostromo/Sulaco Map, before the ground map was released.

Have you had an application to Colonial Marines or New Eden denied before?

I have not, in any previous time been denied an application, I had actually been approved around three months ago, before resigning due to a personal surgery.

Are you currently a staff member elsewhere (not just SS13)? If so, where?

I am currently not working, or planning on finding or taking a job for a few months.

Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on Colonial Marines?

I have never been banned at all on Colonial Marines, to my current knowledge.

If a player was shooting everyone in briefing at round start how would you deal with the situation?

I would start, by initiating a conversation by sending the player a PM asking about why s/he was deciding to hurl fast pieces of metal at fellow marines: "Could you please elaborate as to why you are firing at everyone in briefing?" and wait a short amount of time for a response. If s/he isn't responding, I would PM her/him again, tell them to "Click my name to respond if you don't know how to reply." If they refused to respond a third time it would be assumed they had decided to unload either intentionally, or randomly and I'd temporarily ban her/him for 24 hours and update their notes with their action, the date and time of occurrence and what their punishment had been. If the player had responded with a good reason for firing their gun, such as: "I was being shot at, and I was consenting to a deathmatch in self-defense", I delve further by checking the variables and logs and further asking the other players involved to elaborate. Punishments would be given where truly needed, all consenting death match players would be left to be dealt with by the current round MP's.

You notice that a xeno is breaching the Nostromo and is unable to seal it with resin. How would you deal with this and what punishment would you give for a first offender?

I would start by messaging the Xenomorph player with a message similar to: "Could you please elaborate to me why you are breaching?" If the breach was in an important area where atmosphere is vital, I would use the "Breach Fix" verb to repair it, if not, I would message another Xenomorph or Engineer marine asking them to repair it. Based on response, I would remind the Xenomorph that it is against the rules to breach into space without using resin to block the walls to prevent the atmospheric loss and give them a web link to the rules page. I would also inform them that "Being oblivious is not an excuse." I would give them a 24-hour ban, leaving in their notes why they were banned, date and time of the ban, and the punishment that I had given them. It may seem and feel harsh, but in the rules it is stated that a 24-hour ban is the minimum punishment. (I have noticed that this rule would only apply to an alien aboard the Sulaco, seeing as there is now a ground map.)

The marines want the nuke codes to detonate the Nostromo because they claim they are losing too many marines. There are currently 4 aliens and 20 marines in your /who. What do you do?

I would respond through the 'Central Command Reply' verb: "Marines were deployed to find and fix the current problem, not to wipe out our multi-billion dollar space station. Please find a less destructive decision... We notice you have a large amount of manpower, perhaps firing the guns that we not only paid for, but also pay you to fire would be a better idea?!"

A Sulaco Medic has made several napalm grenades and hands them out to marines. One of the marines throws the grenade into Logistics. There are no admins or other moderators online. What do you do?

Overlooking the situation, it would be apparent that the marine would be the first problem that I would come across, noticing several dead command staff, I would move the marine to 'Admin Jail' for the time being, while I questioned the command staff and the marine to elaborate, whilst I simultaneously check the variables/logs. This would end most likely, with the command staff being healed or revived, and the marine receiving a link to the rules followed by a verb-kill, or being given a short ban (most likely 24-48 hour ban) for griefing, with a log in their notes. Looking even further, I would search for where a napalm grenade had been made, seeing as marines do not receive napalm grenades in the starting load-out. If I discover that the grenades were not made by a scientist, but rather a medical doctor, I would initiate a conversation with medic player involved. Seeing as the doctor is breaking the RP, I would explain the RP rule to the doctor, give them a link to the rules, and give them an at minimum, 5-hour job ban and a log in their notes.

What would you do if a player started to talk about the things he did to your mom last night?

Seeing a player speak negatively about relatives of mine that they had most likely never met, would most probably be an attempt and causing a rise in me. It would in the first few messages be ignored, if continued, a warning of a mute would be given. If it progressed, the mute would be dealt and a log would be placed in their notes. When the mute is removed/timed-out, should the player still continue, they would be given a link to the rules and a follow-up of a 2 hour ban.

Any additional information you'd like to add?

I am currently still in high school, so for a common patterned six hours on weekdays I will be unavailable to log in, but will still be able to be contacted via skype. Additionally, I don't see myself undergoing anymore long-time recovery surgery's so another unexpected resignation from me would most likely not happen again.

I may not be a first choice at being a re-hire, based on how I had been a full moderator for all of a week and a half before having to resign. However, if I am turned down, no negative feeling will be felt. Should I be re-hired, I am ready and willing to undergo the 2-4 weeks trial-moderator testing again.

All of my +1, During the time they were here they were very good at their work, and they did mention that they wouldn't be able to use a computer for several months after the surgery.

I'll try to make Lucy know who I am, I am fairly active on both the game and the forums, I think you are a returning inactive, but I will do my best to associate further with you. I am always into meeting and developing friendships with new people.

The answers are certainly better than some I've seen, but some quicker response on the first would be a bit better in my opinion. Other than that, I've seen Vrai active both on the forums and in-game. A solid RP'er and just a fun person to talk to. I'll give it my +1

Vrai's quite competent and has been pretty active in the community.

We need competent Mod's and I'm sure Vrai can hold his own, again.

*coughs* You need active people, and last time Vrai was around she was super active, plus she was quite involved with the community ex: Vrai's brood

Now I'm not one to be a judge but I think she had fair reason to leave and she made it evident when she left that she wanted to get back into CM ASAP.
