Make It Impossible To Hack SpecVendor

Summary: It seems often that I go out to get some stuff from the RO and I come back to my Spec room seeing some engineering looting my vending machine, it gets old really fast especially when said hacker accuses me of being greedy all the time.

My proposal is that the SpecVendor, and even the Spec's Door, be unhackable or unusable to anyone barring the Spec.

Benefits: Don't have to come back to my room being hacked open half the time.

Engineers are bloody magpies, everyone knows about that. Lay down traps. For example, put your locker in front of the door. Lockers are unhackable, and while he can simply pull it out of the room, IN REALITY THERE'S AN ANGRY SPACE BEAR IN THAT LOCKER!

Happens all the time. Shitgineers hack the airlock and steal a plethora of plastic explosives and hoard grenades and flamer+fuel.

Well I tend to get a Barrel Charger and a Red Dot Sight for my SMG to pair with a SADAR. I simply get my basic clothing on (Armour and all) and rush to the RO line to get my stuff before its all gone. Also I order a crate for later.

No. This is silly. Once one door is unhackable, people will want it elsewhere, until all doors are unhackable. As for Requisitions. Consider the amount of times an RO is either new, shit, gets squashed by the pod, or just goes plain old SSD. Then factor in the same for Command roles who also have access, who are any of the above but also too fusy to be crate-boy. Engineers are there to make sure these machines can still be used, even if there's no valid IDs. That doesn't mean they should be breaking into Spec rooms or RO at the start of the shift though.

This is a mechanical solution to something that should be dealt with by MPs in game. -1.

This is punishable, a player shouldn't be stealing the specialist's stuff... Why do you ask?

There's one specialist... There's specialist equipments designated for THAT ONE SPECIALIST... Not for you, Engineers... Not for you, Leader. Not for you, Commander. FOR THAT SPECIALIST IN YOUR SQUAD.

Yet, players decides to handle it ICly as I will let them under condition them knowing that they are willingly to give up admin intervention.

I actually was wondering about this. In theory they have specialist equipment, but that appears to in one way massively overlap with Engineers. Both jobs are given I think incendiary grenades (no frag grenades for engineers but if you can use one I don't see why you can't use the other), and both jobs appear to be given plastic explosives, and I very very often see specialists with mines though I'm fairly sure that's just stuff they got from requisitions. Either way all of those things both positions use, so it does appear to at least in the explosives area to have a lot of overlap.

Then you have the flamethrower which in the movie is something a 'maintenance tech' like person built. Going off of that as lore it would stand to reason that most of the smarter engineers would be perfectly capable of using and perhaps building flamethrowers.

That aside I totally agree with not permitting hacking of the vendor. Engineers are amazingly greedy as I found last night as an engineer no less, once they get their hands on things they will swear at you and poke you until the end of the round.

I'm torn. Engineers/anyone who hacks into specialist's room makes my blood boil. But at the same time this is within the game, and should be dealt with by the MPs.

There are many shithead marines out there, if there weren't then the MPs wouldn't have a job.

i agree it sucks that engineers are making your job harder, if you gave them enough gear to pimp out at least ONE gun then they should make it work and be good to go, if they dont like that they can suck it up, if they get pissy and make it impossible to do your job just do what i do and fucking kill them, they were asking for it anyways.

at the same time though, hacking of ANYTHING in this game has to be an all or nothing proposition, if we're going to make it so some things cant be hacked or broken into then that defeats the purpose of hacking and bypassing shit in the first place, if you want to take hacking out then just remove engineers from the game and set it up so anyone can get at the tools and c4 and shit.

-1 I know, how is it annoying, but I OFTEN hack Specialist vendor in the middle of a game, when he is dead/captured/SSDed, cause I need frags, C4 or flamer. It is the first place, where I will look, cause I don't want to bother RO often, their brains already pretty busy at that moment and I don't want them to blow up.

Nobody ever reports crimes to Mp's unless it involves them or they are breaking into a area, which in this case would probably be cargo or medbay.

I don't think it's even worth it, but Military Police isn't SS13 Security, just a head up. MP are Military Detective. But some time are shitcurity for the sake of it.
