Put flamethrowers in standard prep
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Remove the flamethrower and phoron tanks from the Specialist ColMarTech and put it on a table/locker in each squad's respective standard prep.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Back in the old days of the Nostromo, this was the way the flamethrower was available. Right now, half of the specialists give away their flamethrowers or just leave it in the machine. Adding it to prep would still give them the option of taking it, but also give that option to others. Also no one likes it when one job has to beg the other for a weapon.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Not much to say, it would work like it used to.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Take from one, give to the other.

+1. Not sure why it was removed, but when I'm a specialist, I always hand the incinerators to the standards.

Currently flamer doesn't really get used that much. Such a waste.

marines are in dire need of extra weapon options in mid to late game especially and flamers should be more common then they are given how prominent and readily available they were in the films.

+1, those things are one of the few ways you can actually keep up with weed removal mid-late game..

+1. Also gives more choice on loadout to the poor standarts.

If you do that your going to have a mad rush of people fighting each other to get the flamer from their teams ready room.

it'll always be like that when there is the possibility of getting your hands on something good which not everyone can have, just going to have to deal with it.

Just want to put it out there, of CO wants, he can also ask the RO/CT to order incinerator crates and make a god damn flamer squad. Scary shit until ravagers.

Re: Put flamethrowers in standard prep
i dunno, i've seen flamers in action and used one myself a few times, they seem abit too stiff to do significant damage to any but the slower aliens imo, seeing more of them in general would be kickin but an entire squad? i'd still want them mixed in with regular riflers and the like, ESPECIALLY since the chance of friendly fire is WAY higher then it is for a bullet gun (bullet guns are worse then flamers when they hit because they can fuck up your bones, cause bleeding of both regular and internal varieties, fuck up your organs and more, our armor however tends to protect us a GREAT deal and is EXCELLENT at protecting us against bullets, aint shit stoppin those flamers, it wont matter if burns are easier to treat if they happen all over the goddamn place)

Re: Put flamethrowers in standard prep
The reason flamers are a bit iffy to see is due to it being, currently, a spec only item. Meaning unless Cargo orders more you'll only ever see four flamers at maximum, and that assumes the spec brings their flamer along which is not guaranteed due to inventory space limitations.
Prehaps making Flamers standard issue for Engineers and maybe Squad Leaders, as well as for Spec's, might help.
Medics should just get a webbing instead.

Re: Put flamethrowers in standard prep
Can't we just have it like it use to be? As in just have two sitting in each squad prep, first marine there gets it.

I think it should be one per squad.

Not a huge fan of two, I think one flame grunt per squad should be enough. Worst case scenario the RO can order more.Mr. Penguin wrote:Can't we just have it like it use to be? As in just have two sitting in each squad prep, first marine there gets it.

My vote is put two in the engineering room. The Engies can get more tanks AND fill them from the phoron cans in engineering. Plus flametherowers have always been a sapper weapon. But yeah +1SecretStamos (Joshuu) wrote:+1, if not the standard, someone should get the flamethrower.

Hey I'd be super down getting more engy toys, but to be an ideal weapon it'd have to fit in the suit slot.Gentlefood wrote: My vote is put two in the engineering room. +1 I support the idea of marines being able to partially maintain the weeds mid/end game without having to revert to begging specialists. It wasn't that OP on the Nostromo map, shouldn't be too bad in this Lazarus map.

Re: Put flamethrowers in standard prep
I am all for putting flamethrowers in Engineer prep. Flamethrowers have a history as combat engineer weapons; a tool for reducing fortifications like satchel charges etc. This means we get some more flamethrowers, engineers get some more toys, and its not a fistfight over the flamethrower in the standard prep room.

I've never seen it used on this new map and the weeds get out of control with spam action logs as people smash them up.

NO! NOT IN ENGINEERING PREP, PLEASE! PUT INTO STANDARD, TWO PER SQUAD! Engineers already have too much shit to take.

Re: Put flamethrowers in standard prep
As much as I love engineering stuff, I have to agree. Engineers, currently, have their hands full with gear. Combine the fact that M240 tanks only fit in the backpack and that's just problematic. My overall vote is 1 flamethrower in standard prep.Jeser wrote:NO! NOT IN ENGINEERING PREP, PLEASE! PUT INTO STANDARD, TWO PER SQUAD! Engineers already have too much shit to take.

Firesuits. Going to be honest, it would be cool if there was a flamer squad that just wore firefighter suits. PURGE THE HERETIC!Mycroft Macarthur wrote:aint shit stoppin those flamers

Tried to wear fire suit to fix hot room... nearly died from heat. I don't think the suits work that well. And if you are wondering... yes I wore a helmet, a mask, an oxygen tank, gloves, and jumpsuit.
