Mp new stun weapon.

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): So basically it would be nice if we got a new stun weapon for the mp which would work similarly to the stun revolver with refilling ammo via recharging etc.This new weapon could be a variant of an smg or a rifle with a different sprite.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Makes the Mp more useful while taking down criminals.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):Just a new Stun weapon which is like a smg or rifle but it fires stun rounds and is recharged via the recharger.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Making a new sprite and adding it to lockers or maybe just a few lying around in the Mp area.

How about, instead of having entirely new weapons, giving MPs regular firearms, but with specialty ammunition? Nowadays, we have plenty of types; wax bullets, rubber bullets, plastic bullets, you get the idea.
I don't see how these would be better than the energy-based weapons, though.

M41A's or M4A3's with rubber or stun rounds would be interesting.

-1 from me. Personally I don't see the point, you got a baton, tazer (which is rechargeable), and flashbangs when you have people really going crazy. Yes you have marines who have assault rifles and such, but I can't tell you how many nuke ops I took out with just a tazer. Yea those weapons seem neat, but if you can't take out a suspect with what you got now, don't really trust you with a weapon that can shoot in auto/burst/etc. Maybe I am just old school, but I would say this isn't necessary.

Also mps do have access to lethals in their armory, side arms and regular primaries. So again they do have regular weapons too

As long as they get something different from the standard taser and stun revolver i'm fine with it.

Yea, however I can tell you this rule isn't as enforced as it needs to be. I mentioned in a different post we had a mp hit the commander with a stun revolver and was trying to drag him away for now reason so all the bridge officers left their consoles and drew their pistols on the guy and when he wouldn't let the commander to we opened fire and he pulled out a assault rifle and opened fire on us. So I mean he also was basically staging a munity with just one guy. But again you should treat it like a normal station, you guys should be fine with tazers and stun weapons until xenos are aboard then by all means get loaded up and go on a bug hunt.

Giving them some energy gun would break the USCM theme. We'd be best off giving them an M37 with some souped up beanbag rounds in my opinion.

I didn't suggest an energy gun i was more on the lines suggesting a gun which works the same as a stun revolver just with more ammo and a different sprite. Not a pew pew laser.

In other words it doesn't even have to be this, it would be nice if it was but i understand if it isn't. Just having something which is different from standard Sec on most servers would be nice as they are Military police after all.

Honestly, the MP's non-lethal weapons appear to be effective only against one criminal, and then they must be recharged. You would either have to make the current weapons more effective, or supply MPs with enough tasers that they don't have to worry about running out of charge. No real need for new stun weapons.

Tasers are weak. Stun batons are melee. The lethals in the armory are not to be used against Sulaco personnel.

Again I have taken out a lot of antags on other servers with that so called weak gun. And I have done even more damage with that stun baton, you play security enough and you learn if you play smart you can take out a lot of people. When we usually got reports of nuke ops or whatever when the main officers always rushed to the main action, I was flanking around or securing a side exit and if that was clear I either stayed put depending on situation at the front that the other officers were dealing with or went in on the flank and hit the suspect. Had a lot of idiots not pay attention due to them fighting my teammates at front that by the time I go in I either already have my tazer hitting them or i just lobbed in a flash bang.... a powerful tool which you guys have.

So what you're saying is hide from criminals or use grenades and attack every person in the area. You can get stun shells for shotguns, but research has to print them one at a time so they hate doing it.

Would that person rather get flash banged or killed by a nuke op/traitor/rev?

Think most would take not dying over the alternative. But I will say our little argument/discussion here could take away from the main point, we both have stated our opinion. We can let others add to it.

They are both good points and i understand your reasoning but as a Military Police force i would of expected them to have something more then just the standard baton and taser, if you get what i mean.

Yes, they have lethals but they can only be used when sulaco is boarded so i hoped to suggest something that could fill the gap between standard sec on other servers and marine lethal weapons. ( If that makes sense..)

EDIT: As it it takes 3-4 shots from a taser to down one marine in armor it would be nice if the Mp's got something that was actually effective at range.

Giving them ammo like the bean bags but making it so that they don't hurt people but stun people could work. Just have a few different variants for all the guns.

Denied.

They have tasers, and we just buffed their batons. Should be more than enough.

If it's REALLY an issue, we can buff the taser.
