Shotgun Ammo Variants.

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Make two types of lethal shotgun ammo, they should already be in the code and just need a re-skin. Slugs and Shells.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): More diversity, make the shotgun more useful.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): There'd be two types of ammo in the vendor, simply put either slugs or shells. Shells would shoot out three pellets in a 3 tile radius. I'd say...30-40 damage per pellet, with a tile range of your screen soas you can't spam a wall of bullets off screen for aliens to randomly rush into. Benefits? Suppresion of course.

Slugs would be a singular projectile such as we have now, it would keep the same damage and properties it has now.


Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):Re-skin and re-coding of the shells that are already in Baystation.

+1 I would love to have some slug rounds to pack a bit more of a punch if I am fighting aliens.

+1 I like the idea of loading different ammo for the shotgun. And the normal shells name should be Buck shot. I also recommend colour coding the different ammo.

i like the idea and all, im sure specialty shotgun rounds could come in later on in the game as a way of making it easier to take on tier 2 and tier 3 aliens but at the same time what would the difference be between a slug round and regular buckshot? as it is the shotgun doesn't have a spread or mimic a spread, its just a regular gun with its own damage stats and reloading system that make it distinct from everything else in our arsenal, i dont feel there would be as much point to this unless buckshot was made its own thing because its basically firing solid slugs right now already, if slugs were just a straight improvement over what we have now why would anyone ever bother using buckshot ever again if slugs were simply better in every possible way.

We currently use slugs. I could see some people using shells/buckshot for the sole fact of spraying 3 pellets at a runner for instance so it would be harder to dodge. A 3 man wide line of shotgunners firing buckshot, even a runner would be hard pressed to dodge that wall of pellets.

While we're at it, can we please change the shotgun reloading system? It'd be nice to be able to just click on a empty gun with a box of shells and have it automatically reload, instead of having to reload each and every single slug.

This is not in.

There are shotgun shells that can be made in the autolathes but none of those shells work inside the shotguns on the sulaco.

At the very least making those shells work would be good.

Those shotgun shells from the autolathe are literally just the shell. I wanna say you can put things like syringes in them, but I really don't know how to make them an actual useful shotgun shell.

That is not how the shells from autolathes function on other servers, most especially the blanks.
If the way you describe the shells was how they functioned the autolathe would just dispense empty shells for you to load with stuff and not multiple specific types.

The shells from autolaythe are for the standard "pump" shotgun. I can look into seeing if the'yll work with out shotguns.

I was able to fire special shotgun rounds out of our m37 when testing. I believe it works. I tried the stun and incindeary rounds

Going through the effort of getting to an autholathe and then individually manufacturing the shells seems like a hoop most players will never want to jump through. If there isn't an easier way for it to get into the hands of the common soldier, who spends most of his time getting yelled at for not being at the briefing on time or stuck with his legs blown off on the planet, then it might as well not exist.

At the very least there should be a crate the RO can order with a couple boxes of specialty shells.

You can easily file a suggestion forum asking for boxes of Stun and Beanbag ammo to be included in Security Lockers.
