Alien OOC "Nicknames"
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Giving Aliens a OOCly changable name much like Humans for use in Apps and OOC conversations.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): It whould make it so being a Xeno player doesn't exclude you from Predator apps and such due to no playing as a marine that much.
Whould make sure people who play Xenomorphs instead of marines don't go unnoticed in the community.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Giving the abillty in the charactor editor to give your Xenomorph a OOC name for OOC use.
Example: Crusher (860) ((*Name*))
I hade to change the name of the post due to people not getting the OOC part of OOC.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Coding?

Re: Alien "Nicknames"
I think that would be fine, I mean they do have aliens getting nickname for some aliens who do quite well against marines and predators and such. Like the one with the net like pattern on his head was nicknamed "Grid" so I don't see why not. I will +1 This.

Re: Alien "Nicknames"
Yes, this would encourage people to want to play as Xeno's more often. People become really attached to their characters and actually care for the side their on when they feel attached to something.
Allowing people to give themselves a quick 4-6 letter nickname would create that attachment and people would want to play as Xeno's more.
He has a good point.. we have some good Xeno players that no one knows about simply because they have no given steady name.
Major +1

Re: Alien "Nicknames"
I mostly thought of this for the predator APPs and such, but when you mention it, it whould get the good xeno players more respect, and whould also make people think more about what they are doing as it has a more permanent effect and more attachment.Pink wrote:Yes, this would encourage people to want to play as Xeno's more often. It was already suggested and denied. No personalisation for aliens. They are faceless scary slaves of Queen, nothing more.

Gameplay over lore at times, especially when it adds more benefits and improvements.

Re: Alien "Nicknames"
Agreed. One of the biggest issues on ArchAngel was always that Norc wanted lore over gameplay, as a result we would lose players. I think having nicknames would be nice for the aliens.Pink wrote:

Re: Alien "Nicknames"
It is part of lore that some nicknames are for aliens. Check the Wikipedia for the alien universe. Some aliens like the one that kills two of the predators in AVP movie is called grid. So I mean it could be argued with lore as well.

Re: Alien "Nicknames"
It could always be implied that the nicknames come from the marines/colonists/survivors/etc. Not that the aliens have the individuality themselves. But ye +1

Re: Alien "Nicknames"
That's an INTERESTING point, should we really follow the Lore? If we do, don't get sue by the Alien franchise . It's did be cool if we can have mix of Halo/Pred/Xeno. It's a long shot. Uh, going to make a new Suggestion.canon35 wrote: Agreed. One of the biggest issues on ArchAngel was always that Norc wanted lore over gameplay, as a result we would lose players. I kind of like just the anonymity of aliens sometimes. If I want to be known, I play marine.

Aliens should never be more than numbers. They are faceless monsters and tools of the queen, -1.

Re: Alien "Nicknames"
I think this would be nice for players that can rp, but a lot of people would use stupid/silly names. -1.

Doesn't matter. Aliens are anonymous. Or make those "nicknames" visible only for aliens, then. Cause I don't want to see alien's nickname.andre1999 wrote:It has come to my attention no body has understood the fact i said the names whould be for OOC use, not IC.

Nicknames are already bad enough for marines. No need to give them to aliens.

Ah, I see.andre1999 wrote: Not that kind of nickname.
Aliens should just take on the last name of the marine character they currently have selected. You'd have "Alien Sentinel (26) ((Eberhardt))", for example.

Re: Alien "Nicknames"
No, no, no, not the last name of their Marine, another name they set in the Charactor editor that is like a simple OOC name for all their Xenomorphs, such as your example and my example in the OP.FriedKetchup wrote: Ah, I see.

Re: Alien "Nicknames"
Aliens doesn't need a nickname. This has been suggested before and was shot down.
