For the Love of God, Make the Sulaco more Resistant to Bombs.
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Make the Sulaco default walls more resistant to explosions (Barring breach charges like C4), and make the default flooring reinforced flooring.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Less damage if the SM blows, or if a greifer tries to blow us up again. It also makes logical sense for a military ship to be heavily resistant to damage (Especially where an explosive core is)
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Re-map certain areas to have reinforced flooring as default,
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Re-mapping and some coding.

+1
However that doesn't mean that you can make a bomb that explodes fucking everything and set it off on the Sulaco to kill all the Xeno's. LOOKING AT YOU, RESEARCH!
The bombs that Research can make are deadly and should no doubt be regulated to a degree because ONE of those damn things can cause a breach and fuck everyone over.
In short:
• Good idea, breaches are game ruining anyways, but they should still happen under extreme circumstances just because shit like that happens.
• Just because it's less likely to breach doesn't mean it's okay to make massive explosives to kill the Xeno's onboard.

Another thing too is that we need it around the core. The SM blowing can really gimp a round, as it also fucks up the area around the pods, and sometimes cargo.Wickedtemp wrote:+1

Re: For the Love of God, Make the Sulaco more Resistant to Bombs.
im neutral on this
on the one hand the ship really SHOULD be reinforced on some level if this IS a warship, at least load bearing or critical areas such as the exterior walls (the hull) and sensitive places like the supermatter should have an epic defense (we dont want some lunatic to break into the engine and forcibly detonate the supermatter by unloading his m41a into it)
on the other hand the supermatter blowing everything the fuck up if it goes critical is kind of the point....its basically similar to a nuclear reactor and when those things blow its as close as your going to get to an atomic bomb without it actually being a bomb, IS there even a real defense against atomic explosions because even the bunkers in real life arent so much designed to survive a nuclear blast so much as they are to avoid it (by being underground and therefor, AWAY from the blast).
this is still a sci fi game and the engines being dangerous as all shit is half the point, the original SS13 had a feature where the entire engine room could be EJECTED (if you were onboard the engine at the time you would end up WITH it on another z-level, if you didn't have a jetpack you would have NO WAY of getting back home) and old singulo was basically us chaining up a BLACK FUCKING HOLE (i know it wasn't a black hole but its basically close enough that it may as well be) to the fucking ship and expecting it to play nice.
but aside from that, reinforcing the walls and floors of the sulaco is a brilliant plan, this is a warship, not a retirement community, the walls should be capable of taking a beating.

Yeah, it seems like every time there is a battle on the hangar, the ship is breached. It is annoying.

SM really doesn't actually do that much damage, it kills a department and then the nature of areas and air alarms closes off a few others, but that's fairly tame. Most of the damage is by the SM's spooky effects on the crew.
Really all of it, but.
As for bombs, if someone wants to grief they're going to grief. Bombs are well logged and it's very easy for the staff to figure out who did the bombing, this is a feature from the original goon public release even. (Pretty sure, anyway.) It's... not really necessary and would look ugly, simply because you'd be making overly thick walls. Changing the walls themselves would mean bombs would be use-impaired in any other case, too.
So.
-1, SM doesn't... really do damage to the ship and changing shit just to curb the rare griefer doing damage to something that really isn't an aspect to the round is eh.

+1 due to the fact of research making grenades and lel tossing them + fuel tank bombs.

Spaceships aren't resistant to bombs from the inside.

This is true, however this is a military vessel where literally anyone and everyone has access to guns and grenades. Not to mention the welder fuel tanks.apophis775 wrote:Spaceships aren't resistant to bombs from the inside.

If we can't get most of the sulaco ship armoured, can we please at least increase the protection around the core? It'd be nice to not have all of engineering blasted off the ship when some idiot shoots the SM 20 times.

Most of engineering gets fucked up due to the blackhole effect, not the explosion.

Accepted. I'm working on this already.
