boiler Acid instantly kills now?

Bug Description:a boiler shot a blob of acid which instantly killed me. i was in b18 armour.


Steps to reproduce:
1.be fighting a boiler
2.get spat at
3.instantly die from full hp

WEll.. This IS a cloud of acid. WE've seen in the movies just HOW powerful the Xenomorph acid is. It's actually amazing that you can even survive being in it for two seconds. Much less the usual five it takes to kill you

Easy defensive reaction is to stand still. It doesn't harm you if you're not moving around. If an alien pounces you, better off infected or severely wounded than dead.

So we should turn the ship around and run? Good common sense, bad storytelling.

While insta-kill with acid might not necessarily be a bug, I'd love to have it calculate the actual covered surfaces, so, for instance, it leaves actual burns on exposed areas, and facial protection is accounted for. Last time I had marine armor and a gasmask it didn't seem to affect much in the way of cloudburst defenses.

Just to be clear- Boilers are glass cannons, my squads killed a number, and I was killed as one in close combat by two marines, easy. Still, currently the acid/neurotoxin choice is just too in favour of acid instant death. Maybe if acid does less damadge and neurotoxin cloud knocks marines out for a bit longer will make for a more interesting experience.

I like it as it is. Considering it takes 200plasma for each shot, and as someone said, it IS a cloud of xenomorph acid, which in lore could melt almost entirely through the nostromo's hull. Realistically the acid should melt off the armor and keep eating through. The corroder acid did this, but corridors were removed because of how overpowered it was.

ahh.... i remeber when you could actually melt space..... leaving a blank black tile... which in turn you could melt that and crash the server
