History: Growing up she lead a normal life, got good grades in school, a relatively laid back lifestyle, the whole nine yards. She absolutely used to HATE her hair, it growed so fast and in large amounts that it was hard to control. She'd often trip over it. Eventually she decided to braid it and put it up in a ponytail, giving up on trying to maintain it at a short length.
Once she graduated highschool she took a few courses on medicine, logistics, and engineering. Enough to know the basics in each such as treating wounds, building a few things, and commanding a squad/getting things to where they needed to be. She enlisted as soon as she turned 18, of course her parents didn't like it.
At first training was hard for her due to her hair, it's length almost as tall as her stopping just below the back of her knees. Eventually she learned how to use it to her advantage, often using it as a distraction to the enemy in combat.
She quickly rose through the ranks proving competent in following orders to the letter and commanding a squad. Eventually she found herself stationed on the USS Sulaco, it was said she would work 10 years there. Of course, she accepted, not many people were relatively kind in the marines and she felt a little bit of kindness would help out a lot.

Entry #1: First day.

Well, it's been a while since I've written in one of these. Then again, it's also been a while since I was transferred to another vessel. The USS Sulaco they call it. Today is my first day on board, day started as expected. Got up, ate, got dressed, got some coffee. Of course, it didn't take long for men to be men. I don't really let it bother me much, I'd rather look good and have others compliment me than be ugly and get told I'm ugly.
I simply smiled and nodded while sitting at a table in the canteen, observing the crew. Most of these people seemed kinder than the average group, everyone seemed to know each other quite well and get along. You could tell they served for years together and had been through a lot.
There was this one girl, Becky, went by the name Rabbit to her friends. I was about to work up the courage to ask why, but that question was soon answered. I glanced over to the table she was at, in front of her sat around 10 cups of large coffee, half were already empty and she was quickly drinking the rest. I simply sat there, slowly sipping on my own cup.
Ten minutes passed, she slammed the last cup down, and shouted "WOO!". I jumped a little, my mind having went to other things such as wondering what the op would be. I mean they woke us up for something right? Becky was hyper, /VERY/ hyper. She ran across the room like a little girl, quickly talking to everyone, sometimes not even waiting on an answer. Much like a rabbit, it was quite obvious where she got her nickname.
Shortly after a loud voice blared over the intercomms: "Attention! All marines, report to the bridge for assignment then get geared! Briefing begins in twenty minutes!". It was the CO, Darius Ico, I think thats what his name was anyway.
I stood up, tossed my cup into disposals, and walked in a group to the bridge with the rest. I got stuck near the end of the line, oh well. The CO and bridge staff seemed competent, the line moved quickly. There were three people behind me, it was the one behind me that spoke. First two words I ever heard him say, and it had to be those. "Nice ass." I turned abruptly, contemplating slapping him out of embarrsement.
He held his hands up with a joking expression "Kidding, kidding!" He said. I lowered my hand with a sigh. "Names' Curtis, nice to meet ya." I paused for a moment before replying, I was always nervous meeting new people, ever since I was little. "Anya..nice to meet you. Might I suggest not greeting every woman you meet like that?"
He simply laughed. Sighing with a smile I turned back around, moving up and keeping the line going. He seemed..different than the rest that greeted me in..that way. He seemed kind, rather than simply acting like a jerk.
Eventually, it was my turn for assignment. Got assigned to Alpha as their specialist. Neat. I was trained in using a smartgun and the B18, and minorly in using a M42c. It was odd though, generally they leave preference of gear up to the person, but it seemed for some reason I was automatically assigned to using the B18. I shrugged and accepted my assignment, generally not one to argue with orders. I took the paper, went to Req, and got my gear.
I had studied the paper, it seemed Alpha was being sent directly into a small warzone that consisted of a hostage situation. That explained why I was automatically assigned the armor at least. I took a riot shield, red dot, and a gyroscope as well. If I was gunna be the defensive line for Alpha, I might as well play the part as best I can. I was the new recruit, after all.
Went to Alphas armory, loaded up my belt with M4 ammunition, modified my gun and went to briefing. As expected, I was one of the last to briefing. The process of putting on B18 was slow, at least for me, and it showed.
CO was the first to speak up, "Well well well, nice of you to join us Ms. Allen. Would you mind taking your seat before everyone decides to go back to sleep?".
My face turned red, I simply smiled and said "Sure thing!" before clattering my way over and sitting down. Remembering I forgot to report in over comms I instead decided to greet my squad directly. "Hey, I'm Anya, your specialist. Nice to meet you?"
Silence. It was several minutes before anyone spoke, it was the SL. "Ayy." He spoke. "Names Woah, Woah Jacobs. Try not to get in the way rookie." I was about to correct him, but I simply shrugged "I'll try." An MP shouted to shut up and the room fell quiet.
"At twelve hundred hours we recieved contact from a wealthy family on Earth, who also just so happens to be a major funder to the USCM. Their daughter and son was kidnapped by a small terrorist group stationed on the slum world we're now in orbit of, now, usually we'd let someone else handle this and move on to more pressing issues but this assignment came directly from high command."
The CO went on for a bit longer, passing out assignments. Alpha was, of course, the negotiation group. Bravo was on Recon, and Charlie and Delta was to make sure Alpha wasn't ambushed during negotiations. Everyone piled onto the dropship, Bravo would go down in the pod first to make sure the vicinity was clear.
Thirty minutes passed, everyone talked idly amongst themselves. Once given the all clear, the old dusty drop shuttle known as the Rasputin spun up. Descent was quick, only took a few minutes. Naturally I was appointed to the front of the group, either as a meatshield or defense, probably the former.
We proceeded from the LZ to a big building, the Rasputin sluggishly and lazily took off. Charlie and Delta split off, covering the flanks. Gun fire sounded soon after. The building the negotiations would be held at was a kilometer or two from here. Oh well.
It was a long walk, Charlie and Delta, maybe Bravo, were the only ones that saw any action. I was kinda thankful for that. No one seemed to have gotten too injured either. Even better. We entered the building slowly, no sign of anyone. Good. Negotiations were supposed to be held at the top floor, thankfully the building was only four floors high. Walking up stairs in B18 was always a pain in the ass.
We reached the floor, armed guards were everywhere, it was quite clear from that point on who was in control. We were immediately instructed to drop our weapons. The SL identified who we were and why we were here, no one got shot. So far, so good.
The group picked me out of everyone in the squad, guess they figured since I was a girl I couldn't do much damage. Jacobs looked at me for a minute questioningly, I nodded "Alright, I'll go." I was ushered into the room, briefcase in hand. Two kids were tied up in the corner, a man was sitting at the desk. Mid thirties with a thick black beard.
"Well well, sending a little girl into a warzone. Is this what the USCM does now a days? Savages." The man had a heavy russian accent. "Guess so..." I replied. I was personally baffled at how he thought he had the right to call anyone a savage, but I refrained from saying. "The money is in the case, release the kids."
I placed the case on the desk, he motioned for someone to come take it into the corner and open it, right beside the kids. Guess he was expecting it to be a bomb, thankfully it wasn't. I half expected it to be myself. "Thank you for your patronage..but you know..I don't think it's quite enough. Just think how much the USCM would pay for one of their own? Grab her. More hostages, more money, after all."
The two men in the room immediately rushed over and grabbed me, painfully twisting my arms behind me. Two shots rang out, the two men awkwardly fell sideways to the floor. I snatched my arms out of their grip rubbing my wrists. The leader popped up from his desk and aimed a pistol directly at my face. Nervously I spoke "Th..there's a third sniper, aiming directly for the back of your head...I-I'd lower the gun and stick to the deal if I were you."
He laughed and pulled back the hammer, I cringed and held my arms defensively in front of my face. If he fired, the gauntlets would at-least save my life. He didn't have time to fire, however. I wasn't lying about the third sniper. Bravo had set up on the building across from the one we were in, just in case something like this happened. Instead of a bullet I shieled myself from blood.
I sighed with relief, "Thank you Bravo.." I muttered to myself. I walked over temoving the knife from my boot and un-bound the kids. The younger clung to me, scared to near death. I assured them everything would be alright, and we walked out of the room. It'd be a while before the guards discovered their boss dead, we'd be long gone. "Mission success." Jacobs spoke into comms.
Kids in tow we left the building, the Rasputin landed just outside. "Good job, kid." Jacobs told me with a smile. "Always glad to help." I replied.

Day Two:

Maybe I'll start coming up with catchy and creative titles for these things!...nah probably not. Day started as usual, only this time I had people that'd actually talk to me that I wasn't quite as nervous speaking too.
Of course, it wasn't a big group of friends. But hey, at-least I had some right? It was me, Woah, and Curtis sitting at a table talking together. Me and Curtis were assigned Req duty for the day, I honestly felt a bit un-easy working with him alone in Req..but eh, I was sure I'd be fine.
Sulaco staff were soon ordered to get to their stations, shortly after marines were ordered to get geared and prepped. I'd already loaded several of the crates onto the supply shuttle with the help of the loader and keyed in for some webbing, medics and engineers couldn't get enough of the stuff.
Honestly, working Req was a nice change after the other day. And so far, Curtis seemed nice, helping out when asked. Once the line started, however, is when things got...weird for lack of a better word. Curtis had gotten into the loader and walked into the front room, straddling the chair.
The microphone inside the louder amplified his voice, a lot, so much so it hurt my ears. Guess that's what I get for standing next to it. "WELCOME TO SPACE WENDYS. HOW MAY I TAKE YOUR ORDER?!" He said. The man in line humored him, I think his name was..Mike Hernandez? I can't really remember.
"I'll take three double cheeseburgers and two large fries." He told him. "THAT'LL BE TWENTY FUCKS GIVEN. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ORDER!" Curtis replied. I sighed and walked out of the front door around the desk to hand Mike his attachments. "Sorry..I..don't know why he's acting like that." I told him sheepishly. Mike laughed "It's all good, that's just Curtis. You'll get used to him."
I smiled and nodded. Well, at-least the rest seemed to think it was pretty normal behaviour for him. "Hey..could you move please? You can play with the loader later, okay?" I asked him. "Sure thing babe." He replied and stomped back into the cargo bay.
Things went by pretty normally, everyone got their stuff and went to briefing. I slumped into my chair with a sigh, the rush before briefing was always exhausting. Curtis was off doing god knows what in the loader, so I left and got some coffee. Ah coffee, what would the universe be without it.
Turning around in my chair and propping my feet on the table, I noticed the apc on the wall change from it's normal green color to dark red, meaning power was failing. Sure enough, a few seconds later, the equipment in the room lost power. With a sigh I hailed for a MT over comms, didn't generally expect a fast response, you usually never got one on..any vessel.
Contrary to my belief an MT arrived quite quickly. His ID read 'Bigby Farkas'. First thing I noticed about him was his hair, and how he seemed to smell of burning phoron. I shrugged, thinking it was normal for people that worked near the massive engine known as a supermatter core. "Hey, um..power is failing. Can you check the wires? I don't think they're all working..or something." I asked him.
He looked from me, to the apc, to the floor and grunted. "Alright.." he replied. He pulled out a T-ray scanner, nifty little thing that pulses and shows a visual of the wires under the floor tiles. Sure enough, a wire was missing. Probably a design flaw, I thought. I had heard some construction work going on earlier. "Here's the problem...damned idiots didn't place a wire down. I'll fix it.." he spoke and heaved a sigh as he bent down with a crowbar to uproot the tile.
I noticed something, something kinda very bad. He didn't have any insulated gloves on. "Wai-" I began to say, he held one finger up before saying "I got it, I know how to fix it. Let me do my job." I sighed, "..fine.." Shortly after the room smelled of seared flesh, he recieved a very bad burn up his arm about halfway and on his hand. He lay on the ground screaming in pain and grabbing his arm with his other hand "DAMNIT!" he yelled.
"I..um...I'-I'll bring a medkit hold on!" I shouted, luckily I always make sure cargo has a trauma kit if need be. I rushed over to him, being careful to not touch the wire myself. I tore open the burn kit and began smearing it over the burn, it didn't take long before it started healing. "I..tried to tell you you weren't wearing gloves.." I told him. "Please be more careful Bigby.."
He blinked, probably wondering how I knew his name, then remembering he had an ID. He stood up with a grunt, "Appreciate the help..I guess I should have paid more attention." He said and heaved, slipping the gloves from his belt onto his hands. He finished attaching the wire and cemented the tile back down. "That it? Good. I'm leaving. Got more important things to do than take care of cargos needs." He spoke, walking out and back down the hall to engineering.
He seemed..tense for some reason. I wasn't sure why. I mean, engineers get injured all the time, right? Welp. I decided I'd figure out why later, right now I had a job to do now that I could do it. I quickly got the orders that were backlogged due to no power taken care of and put into a drop, probably too quickly. Crate decided it didn't wanna do it's job anymore and toppled over, then again I did have quite a lot of stuff put in it..
Pinned to the floor I yelled for help over comms, it was Curtis who arrived in the loader to help. He lifted the crate off me before climbing out. "Are you alright?" He asked, helping me up. "Yeah..I'm fine. Thanks a lot, I was kinda slowly getting crushed there." I replied, smiling.
Situation on the ground was slowly getting worse, it was a rather large terrorist attack against a Weyland-Yutani digsite in the desert on Earth. Both sides were suffering heavy casulties however. Things were actually beginning to turn around...and then 5 minutes later..
Situation on the ground got a lot worse than expected. The marines were losing, and losing fast. Apparently the enemy ground forces had also hijacked the Rasputin. Damn. I quickly and rather awkwardly shuffled around him, making a rush to the gear room. He followed soon after. We both got our gear and ordered supplies to ward off the incoming attackers. The hangar was quickly overran, the supplies had arrived and engineering was working hard to set up the defenses. A few turrets, barricades, and walls later and the west end was a fortress.
Me and Curtis were set up on a barricade in Req, ready to shoot whatever wasn't USCM that came up. Bigby was on a turret in the hall, mowing down the occassional person that tried to 'tactically' come down the hall. The rest were trying to re-take the hangar, it was proving very difficult.
Somehow, one of them snuck up and into the cargo bay, which just so happened to be where me and Curtis were at. He grabbed me, I screamed, and Curtis fired. If it had've been a second or two later, I would've had my throat cut open. I gasped, blinked a few times, looked around, and sighed with relief.
I hugged him "I thought I was going to die..thank you.." I spoke, nearly dying kinda traumatizes you. Even with cloning being a thing. Then it hit me that I hugged him, and he was hugging me back..annd creeping down a bit to low for comfort. I shoved him off abruptly directly into the table behind him. "I'm sorry..." I said, reaching out a hand to him to see if he was alright.
"Nah it's fine.." he replied. "Hey...if we live through this...wanna go out?" I blinked, laughed lowly, and smiled. Honestly, it was the least I could do after being saved twice in the same day by the same person. "Sure...where to?" I replied. "Paris."
"Neat.."
The boarders were repelled 30 minutes later, we sufferred heavy casulties, most got cloned thankfully. The op was scrubbed and marked as a failure. Well...failure for them for me? I get to go to Paris in a few days. Always wanted to go, never got around to it..

The trip to Paris was awesome! I should probably start from the beginning, so here we go! Nothing much interesting happened the past few days, I wasn't woken up for combat or otherwise. In fact I got a few days leave since I did so well on my first op on the Sulaco, so I've mostly hung out around my house. Small house but it does its job, one bedroom one bath, kitchen, living room too. Nice and cozy.
When I wasn't at my house I was at the mall buying and looking for clothes for the trip, never really bought fancy clothes, in-fact I only had one dress until now that I rarely wore. Red, kinda faded..eh. Bought two new dresses, a new pair of heels, oh and some gorgeous diamond earrings, the dangly kind.
After the mall trip it was time to pack, decided to just wear my everyday clothes until we got there, a simply white tank top and khakis. Friends usually comment on how I don't dress nice enough, no point really if you have no one or no reason to dress nice I guess.
We'd decided to just meet at the airport in Paris, easier for the both of us to get ready and stuff. Flight was in a few hours so I had plenty of time to pack, I'd been looking forward to going since we'd planned on it. Always wanted to go to Paris, I'd heard it was prettiest this time of year to.
Always wanted to try real french cuisine too..if the stuff at restaurants was good, restaurants at the country itself should be even better. Finished packing and headed for the airport, it was only an hour till the flight. Kinda maybe spent to much time thinking on what all we were gunna do.
We were gunna be there a week or so, so we would have plenty of time to see the sights. Drive to the airport was relatively quick, not a lot of people were out and about. Gave them my ticket and headed to the plane, it was pretty crowded, at-least I got a good seat.
I think he said the hotel was Regina? Said he booked us a nice room and that you could see the Eiffel Tower from it. As long as he stayed in his own bed everything would be fine.
It took a few hours but the plane eventually got to the airport, Curtis was waiting when my plane landed. He waved, I waved back and smiled "Hey!". I walked over pulling my suitcase along, he put his arm around my waist. "How was your flight?" He asked. "It was great! The seats were super comfy and the flight attendants were nice." I replied.
We walked a bit and exited the airport, grabbing a taxi to take us to the hotel. "Glad you liked it and the flight wasn't even the half of it. We're gunna see everything there is to see in Paris." He said with a smile.
First stop was of course the hotel room, we dropped off our bags and decided on a restaurant. Place we picked was close to the hotel and highly reccommended by it. I hadn't ever been to Paris before so I said why not? Who knows more about Paris than it's citizens?
Inside of the place was nice, a violinist was playing in the corner, whole nine yards, place looked five star I was surprised we were able to get a table. We both got something called 'Boeuf Bourguignon', some kinda french beef roast. It looked good anyway. Curtis, for some reason..probably just to see the look on my face ordered Escargot.
Snails, boiled snails. They looked and smelled disgusting, Curtis ate one and said it was good. I know now he was lying. He urged me to try one, I was hesitant at first, but I gave in. It tasted like a mix betwen snot and puke, I immediately spit it back into the shell and gagged, downing my entire glass of wine. It was the most disgusting thing I'd ever tasted, Curtis simply laughed as loud as he could. "I lied babe, it was as disgusting as you're making it out to be!" He said.
I couldn't help but smile and start laughing. It was kinda funny, in a way. The actual food we ordered was great, a lot better than what I normally eat for sure. All in all, it was a wonderful evening and thr food was great. I was too tired from the flight to go sight seeing, so we called it a night and headed back to the hotel.
The beds were /soft/, like, very soft. I'd have to buy a bed like this one later when I got home for whenever I had shore leave again...seriously.
I could go on and on about how the week went, but honestly I'd probably need another diary just to describe everything we did. Of course, the main thing I wanted to go to, was the Eifell Tower. We went the next day, the view from the top was breathtaking, you could see most of Paris. Even better that it was at sunset, you could see our hotel too.
We even went to the catacombs, they were kinda creepy and cool at the same time. I just wish we coulda stayed longer, I'll see about getting him to take me again some time soon..or going by myself. Whichever came first.
All in all, the trip was great and Curtis wasn't as bad as I thought he'd be about us being in the same room and stuff. He got the idea after the first try, to say the least.
Back on duty the day after tomorrow...really wish the trip woulda lasted longer. Oh well, I still had fun. Until next time!-Anya

Dating: Curtis Weeter: Despite everything, which includes his pervy attitude. She finds him funny and likeable. Definetely a big change from most of the men in the corps. He also apparently really likes Paris, which she of course doesn't mind going to him with.
Friends:
Bigby 'Pyro' Farkas: One of her best and closest friends in the corps, after apologizing to her he quickly went from hating her to being a great friend. She feels he is one of the only people she can count on, both to help her when needed and as a friend.
Aaron Unk: She views him as rather thick headed and hard to follow orders. He seems to care more about others than himself, which relates to her personality quite well. She thinks that's why they're such good friends.
Woah Jacobs: The first time they met he seemed rather rude, to put it frankly. She eventually grew to see him as a friend. Funny and quick witted, he was a person she could rely on.
Casca 'Legs' Orivanna: Another one of her closest friends and one of the kindest people in the corps. Always a nice and fun person to talk to.
Arty Loudain: Bigbys more laid back ginger counter-part. Also one of her closest friends, always fun to be around, and sometimes kinda painful. Anya still has to get her back for a few things, though.
Melissa Wright: Bigbys girlfriend and Anyas friend by extension. She'll never let her forget when she clamped Bigby in the groin with a bone setter after surgery, either.
Basic appearance: She is 5'4 with a slim athletic build, blue eyes, and long hair that stops above her kneecaps. Her hair is usually kept neat and tidy in a braided ponytail. Often seen with a smile on her face.
