COLONIAL MARINES: 6 MONTHS ANNIVERSARY!

Ahoy everyone.

Today, marks the 6 month anniversary of when we set out on our own. Back then, the byond hub looked MUCH different. There were many servers there, that are no longer with us, and there are some new rising stars. Also, since we split off, we've made our own mark, becoming the fastest growing server, and one of the longest at the top, going for nearly 2 straight months in the #1 slot.

In these last 6 months, we've seen a few big changes to SS13 as a whole. There have been a few servers leave us forever, a few leave and come back, and more than a handful of branch servers. But in all that, I feel like we've also made our own dent in the SS13 server list and the SS13 history as well. Not only did we spend nearly 2 straight months (barring a few hours) as the #1 server, but we've also become probably the most successful iteration of CM/Infestation station yet.

It hasn't been a smooth ride. We've had our share of griefers, reddit drama, staff drama, and all around shenanigans, but we've come through all of it on top. I'm fairly proud of what we've been able to accomplish. I mean, 6 months ago, we were on the old codebase, with maybe a quarter of the regular population we have now. And now, we are always in the top 4 servers, and our normal population is between 60 and 90.

We had a LOT of momentum, and this has been one HELL of a ride, and we aren't going to be slowing down anytime soon.

Coming up, we've still got:

1. Halloween Update (over the next day or so)
2. Virus Game Mode with the new Big Red map
3. Ice Planet Map
4. LV-624 PRELUDE (top secret project)
5. Yautja Space-ship
6. Christmas Update

I'm hoping, you'll all continue to stick with us, for the next 6 months as much as you have to this point. Because really, we could do as much development as we wanted, but it wouldn't matter if we didn't have people to play it.

Now, I've got some stuff to do (yes, I'll get suggestions open soon), but from all of us here on staff let me say:

6 months? wew lad, i still remember the locker room and the old armory... What a mess, we also had lockers with squad equipment that emptied all the time...

I've only been here for a month of it, but this server is amazing and the community is great. Ok very glad to be a part of this community and look forward to many more deaths at the hands of aliens.

I'm not necessarily new to the server, but I've not been with the forum all that long. Apophis, The Chaos Serpent, I wish you luck on your endeavors, and I look forward to what you have in store for everyone in the Colonial Marines community.

I started playing SS13 around 2-3 months ago and this server was the very first server I joined and I have not regretted my decision of spending hours upon hours playing on it yet and don't think I will anytime soon.

Easy wouldn't be the word i'd use considering my first round on the old map I joined about 20 minutes before it ended I was confused as hell when I was aimlessly walking around seeing dead bodies and weeds everywhere. Overall it was great fun.

Easy start means aiming for low-rp servers to learn the mechanics.

I started on the HRP servers and got gg'd over and over by bay med. This server is great for learning tho, bay med, lots of combat, and is starting to heavily encourage RP

the first time i ever played on CM was on the old nostromo map, personally i think it should be put on a rotation or something to show people who never played the nostromo how good it was but that is another story, i have been playing the game for a while and i don't regret a second of it, it is truly an amazing server with some really good people and i hope all of you and i will be here for another six months

A bit sad my idea of pAI's running SL equipment never got grounded but hey, the server is still chugging along with great new ideas.
