After reading the rules I had a couple questions on meta gaming.
For reference:
No Metagaming:- Acting upon knowledge your character does not have.
Examples of metagaming:
◦Welding vents before seeing the Xenos use them.
◦Equipping hardsuit helmets and other face protection before knowing about facehuggers.
◦Setting up defenses on the Sulaco before the Queen sends/receives drop pods/shuttles for the first time. (Note: there will be a big alarm when the queen uses the shuttle consoles.)
◦Chasing down Xenos immediately after first contact.
◦Doctors performing surgery without first determining what's really wrong with an infected patient.
◦Suicide before having a good reason to do it, such as seeing a fellow marine's chest bursting.
◦As a Xeno: damaging the Sulaco engine to prevent setup.
Question 1: First Contact Engaging
I always try for Xeno at the beginning of round, I love playing Xenomorphs. (Favorite Caste is Crusher or Queen) Sometimes if I play Runner I may be tasked with scouting the facilities outside of the cave. Eventually when the Marines do come down to the planet, I'd make contact and in the event that I am spotted, I'd be fired at immediately. Unfortunately I never took it upon myself to record these things happening because I guess I used my own form of metagaming: Knowing that I am the Marine's enemy. With that knowledge I thought it was ok to be shot, at first contact. After reading the rules I've seen that this is not ok. So may I ask what do I do if this occurs again? Given the circumstances of ME being the ACTUAL FIRST CONTACT.
Question 2: Queens Transcendent Intelligence and Metagaming
Here I'd like to ask what does the Queen actually know? Specifically in the area of the Human species? To RP knowledge, everything that happened on LV624 was caused by the Queen so she should know of the Human species right? Are we allowed to RP educating knowledge of Humans to the Hive? If so, what knowledge is actually allowed to be shared?
Example of Education: 1. The Hosts are Humans and they use metal weapons to hurt you 2. The Humans use a metal bird to come from the skies. We want to impregnate the metal bird and go wherever the metal bird takes us so we can spread our Hive.
Thanks guys
I honestly would want to experience not being shot at first sight. I also would like to stop referring to hosts as hosts, rather as humans. (Only because I'm a network technician and damn I hate talking about hosts. At least when I'm not working with hosts haha.)
Remember: This is not just for my advantage! I would like to bring a better experience to everyone. Like the RP feeling of "what is that red dog?" *sees it multiple times* "I think it may be scouting us." (These are just simplified scenarios) or the RP feeling of educating the younger Hive on who the dominant hosts on the planet are and how to deal with them safely.

Re: Innocent Questions
Any human=host. Deadly or not they are hosts.
I think.
The queen only knows that there were hosts on planet.
They didn't know about the marines.

Re: Innocent Questions
ANSWER ONE
First off, you ARE the marines enemy.EVERYTHING is an enemy to aliens. The Aliens whole GOAL is to capture hosts and expand.
Marines are just another host you need for the Hive.
Now the first contact rule only works against marines if they CHASE you upon first contact.
ANSWER TWO
The Queens knowledge has never REALLY been specified I don't think...
She knows nothing about the marines though until she gets reports or see's it first hand.
She knows what the ship consoles are, somehow. Just don't question it.
IN SHORT, The Queen knows what the other Aliens know

Re: Innocent Questions
Answer 1. What if I was spotted by a Marine and was instantly shot at as if I were already trying to kill them? (I guess I would run and if he were to chase and keep trying to kill this is where this marine has broken the rules.)ChickenShizNit8 wrote:ANSWER ONE

Re: Innocent Questions
That would.... mmm.... Yeah, that would most likely be meta.
But then again they DID just come across A LOT of blood once they touch down...
To be honest there are not a lot of punishment I see for shooting on sight, it's all the chasing at first sight that is meta.
I guess that is Meta but it isn't punished often
And NO PROBLEM, I enjoy helping people with questions they may have. I may not be a Mentor but I do like to answer questions.

The way I see it, most of the Colonists are gone. There's blood, and bodies all over the place, and the only things running around are these.
It's not that hard to put two and two together.

Re: Innocent Questions
The first contact rule that use to be in play was that if a marine shot you ( The alien ) first without clear evidence of a hostile intention, they would get banned/warned for it, however when we moved to Pre-Alpha that rule was taken away and altered into:TheSlumberingKing wrote: Answer 1. What if I was spotted by a Marine and was instantly shot at as if I were already trying to kill them? (I guess I would run and if he were to chase and keep trying to kill this is where this marine has broken the rules.)
Also marines can shoot aliens on sight even if you don't appear hostile due to how scary xenomorphs look, I believe there was a whole thread about how scary a xenomorph looks which can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=86&t=2292&p=18714
In regards of first contact, marines can shoot at you an alien even if you act 'peacefully' but if they chase you after that first contact that's when you should a-help about it.
