Aliens

Why do the aliens always prioritize survivors?
DEAD: Trine 3600 says, "the soldiers need to lay eggs so we can get helmethuggers so we can get more soldiers"
Aiden Newton broadcasts, "Well fuck LV-624 they can handle their own shit"

1. Gathering hosts for larvae.
2. Survivors are dangerous hosts.
3. Prioritize the dangerous ones.
4. Profit.

Yep. There are about seven/eight good reasons to prioritize survivors.

You want dangerous survivors? That's how you get dangerous survivors!

Good question really. I mean they're really not a problem to the aliens unless the aliens suck. There are tons of native hosts that don't fight back.

Because they are players and players are assholes. There is no, non-meta reason for xenos to prioritize survivors over the FREE, NON-HARMFUL monkeys covering the map everywhere. Sure, some are easy pickings when a survivor is unarmed and sure, go for that, but that survivor there in checkpoint with a rifle and two pistol mags? Xenos own fault to die if he fucks with the single damn enemy that knows what the xeno is about. I've watched 4 xenos die to survivors because they were salty once before the marines ever arrived, and the hive never quite recovered from the loss that early on. It serves no purpose.

The xeno-players want to deny the marines the meta knowledge, otherwise the whole 'profit' thing makes absolutely no sense given the monkeys are not going to destroy them from the inside out, or ruin their nest if they aren't careful at the hive, and there is only a tiny handful of survivors.

Yea sometimes I've been a survivor and there's like 5 aliens trying to get me....like why? There are monkeys everywhere.

There are a couple of reasons I like to hunt for survivors. For one, the hive doesn't generally need more than ten or so monkeys at the start of a round, and with the recent change to bursting, aliens often end up with a horde of SSD larva even if they don't make the effort to get every single monkey.

And to be completely honest, hunting for survivors is a whole lot more fun than gathering every single monkey you can reach. It can be challenging, especially if they're armed, and requires a bit of coordination if they're barricaded in. All in all, it's very enjoyable, and I tend to like the desperate struggle to survive the xeno horde whenever I get to play as a survivor. It's certainly more tense and enjoyable than just holing in without anyone even trying to get me and waiting for the marines to arrive.

As someone who plays survivor, the aliens not trying to hunt me is dull. It can be a pain, but the fact is the survivors could just take a closet and hide in the bottom left corner. Monkies and such basicaly dont move, but humans can be fun to hunt, particuarly if you herd them towards the hive.
