Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Have there be more people playing survivors in the beginning and have the attack on the colony actually happen. Slightly changing in the colony in itself. Change Survivors to Colonists.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
It would prevent the, what do survivors actually know? Question. They would know what they see and it would bring a different aspect of role play to the group. I also think it'd compliment some other gameplay things. Role play buff.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): I think it would work as if there is a small number of colonist doing there jobs and than Aliens start as normal or maybe some in a containment area in research and the Colonists can send a distress signal to the sulaco nearby when the outbreak happens or when they feel it's necessary. So Colonists can only tell the marines what they actually see. The Director can have a connection to We-Yu maybe and be able to send out a distress signal. Maybe having them already studying them and they break out of containment. (The distress beacon could possibly let it be interrupted by a Predator or other possible things). It'd be a great RP benefit.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Make a distress beacon room only accessible by such and such. Have Colonists instead of survivors because they turn into survivors. ID's for Colonists.

I am having a hard time understanding what it is your trying to suggest?

- Id's are laying around on dead bodies ((But giving some on-spawn would be nice))
- Survivors are sorta' Colonists.... The SURVIVING colonists
Also, is this a Gamemode Suggestion? Because there is a WHOLE OTHER THREAD for those...

1) Where's the beacon? I admit if it's on a computer. Than I wouldn't of put it on here as it would've been common knowledge.
2) I'm suggesting changing how the players start off in the game. Such as playing through the and being in the colony when the attack occurs. Not a game mode but, more like an update and revamp of the current model.

I can see two things happening:
1) SS13 bullshit happens as greytiders break into the security office to steal guns and fight aliums, and the alien team is murdered to pieces at practically minute zero.
2) Marines wander into an alien team that are far more ingrown and built up than they are remotely equipped for and have to fight hangar battles for the rest of their days.

1) Nerf the weapons in the security office or make it so only a security personnel has a weapon of any importance.
2) Aliens being more in grown is a possibility if Colonists/Survivors weren't already going to be attacked right off by them anyway. Also makes it so people can choose something other than Alien or Marine. Also lets players to initially research and/or find out about Xenomorphs.
3) Marines usually have numbers most of the times I've played. Rationing at about 5 marines-1 Alien. Changing a marine ratio to say 4 marines, Colonists to 1 and aliens stay 1.

This was suggested once. I denied it because the survivors would wipe the aliens before the marines landed. I've seen it nearly happen before if the aliens are stupid (one round, I saw the aliens attack 2 survivors with 4 aliens and it ended up only the queen was left alive).
