Dragon2323 - Moderator Application
Byond ID: Dragon2323
Colonial Marines Character: Arabelle ''Nix'' Liefstadt and Aeris ''Kraut'' Kraundheit / assorted Xenomorph Sentinel, Spitter, or Praetorian
Age:
16
Gender:
Male
Timezone:
EST / GMT -5
On average, how many hours are you available per week to moderate?
35/5, not counting weekends, which are potentially 16/2, therefore 51 hours a week in total if my math isn't wrong.
Do you have any previous experience in being staff (not just SS13)?
ADMINISTRATOR :: Unbound Travels (hosted by jdigweed)
ADMINISTRATOR 2 :: Prospector Station (hosted by ocarswell)
I was intended to take the role of Head Administrator of a server that was unable to launch.
Did you play any of the previous Colonial Marine servers?
I've been playing Colonial Marines since the Nostromo was still a thing.
Have you had an application to Colonial Marines before?
I have only prior submitted a Mentor application.
Are you currently a staff member elsewhere (not just SS13)? If so, where?
I am not currently employed as staff on any other server.
Have you ever been banned for more than 24 hours on Colonial Marines?
I have not once been banned from Colonial Marines. At most, I may have gained some mild note history.
Common Staff Situations:
Write a description of what you would do in each situation (BELOW) the situation. If you start it on the same line, I'll assume you can't follow directions and auto-decline your application.
1. A player is firing his weapon in the briefing area near the start of the round.
Review and reference three things, the first being their note history. The second is what weapon they are firing, as there's more danger in firing the M83 SADAR than the M41A. The third is whether they're firing upon other marines. If they are firing on marines, the player will be forced to sleep, by myself or a higher ranking staff member with access to the verb. From there, inquire as to what they had intended, or what they were doing. If the answer chalks up to griefing, have a ban applied - if the player is new, begin to walk them through a handful of basics.
2. The Sulaco has a breach to space.
The immediate situation is to see if there is any danger to Marine players in the area, or Aliens due to pressure loss. If there is, coordinate with a higher ranking staff member to have the breach mended, or with a player in the case of access to subtle messaging or direct narration. The next issue is taking the time to investigate whom made the breach and apply a verdict as necessary through Rule 15.
3. The marines want the nuke codes because they claim they are losing too many marines. There are currently 4 aliens and 20 marines in your /who.
The first step is to acknowledge that, as of the Administrative Code of Conduct, Article 6 of Section 2, only Head staff members are permitted to give out the Nuke Codes. The next is to inform the Marines of this ratio through the AI announcement system, and politely refuse to provide the Nuke codes.
4. A Sulaco researcher has made several napalm grenades and hands them out to marines. One of the marines throws the grenade into Logistics. There are no admins or other moderators online.
Assuming that by "Logistics" you mean Briefing, assess the damage first and foremost and attempt to control it to the best of my ability. Notify an awake Administrator if the option is available, and immediately set into investigation. If the Marine hadn't intended, or claims to've not intended to throw the grenade, refer to their notes. If they're lying, place a ban related to the damage, for Rule 6 - Griefing.
5. A player is starting to talk about the things he did with your mom last night over Ahelp.
The first thing is to take a moment to breathe and remain composed. If the player continues to send these messages, ask politely for them to cease and take a moment to breathe. Review the issue - if they're simply using the admin-pm feature to harass, apply a mute from admin-pm. If they're simple angered over an issue, politely inform them they will be temporarily muted from admin-pm whilst investigation and resolution occurs.
6. You notice a marine with a name that doesn't fit our naming rules.
PM the player and inquire as to their name. If it's a reference name to a famous actor, etc, it's best to ask them to politely change it. If there is a staff member with access to changing the name variable, ask the player for an alternate name that they'd like to use - and check if it's a reference to anything.
6a. The marine is arguing that: They've used the name for several years, noone has told them to change it before, and that they didn't know it was a rule.
Since they're arguing, intervene and ask for them to politely stop and allow a moment to explain. Reference the post where it all changed as well as Rule 2, and ask them if there is another name that they'd prefer to use. As in "6", check if it is a reference to anything.
7. You see a Sulaco Doctor with an M41A rifle strapped to his back running around the briefing area. There are wounded in medbay, and the other doctor is in surgery.
PM the player and ask as to why they're carrying an M41A as a doctor. Cite the CMO/Doctor specific weapon rule, and ask them to put down the M41A, return to Medbay and handle wounded Marines. If they refuse, inform them a job-ban will be applied.
8. You see a Squad Medic performing surgery on the planet. He claims it was because there were no doctors in the FOB.
Immediately cite the Squad Medic rules, and the specific article, "You may NOT perform ANY surgery (no matter how minor)." and ask them to turn the surgery over to a professional.
9. The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the Sulaco, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other?
Inform the Marines of this ratio through the AI announcement system and a bioscan, and request for them to redeploy. If they refuse, repeat the bioscan and the sake of the operation. If refused once more, pass the issue onto an administrator whom can make the problem more... "engaging" for the players whom refuse to engage.
10. The round ends, and a marine starts unloading his weapons on other marines.
Immediate three hour ban. No intervention, no sleep.
11. A marine who has recently awoken is using soap to slip other marines.
PM the player, and request that they stop slipping other marines. This isn't highly detrimental, but it's obnoxious behaviour that can lead to grief in some situations. Apply a warning for being a dick.
12. A marine has killed another marine. When you ask him why, he said it was because the other marine had punched him.
Investigate as to the reason this started. If it was an IC issue, allow it to pass by. Cross-reference their notes with the situation, and if it's a repetitive situation, have a ban applied. If it was blatantly grief, inform the offender(s) that they'll be banned.
Any additional information you'd like to add?
No.
