Reorganize Squad Lockers
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Change the item order in squad lockers for ease of outfitting.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Save time, effort, and trying to pixel hunt for specific items via right clicking.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): This is a very simple change. Right now lockers are arranged to have the USCM Uniform appear to be roughly in the middle of the list, rather than the top. This is the item that most people would be equipping first. The other items also arranged strangely, almost randomly. The idea is that when you're getting equipped you have a certain order in the way you equip gear, and it should be relatively easy to follow said order. Here's a typical outfitting sequence:
Remove underpants.
Get and equip uniform.
Equip ID.
Get and equip boots.
Get and equip gloves.
Get and equip belt.
Get and equip armor.
Get and equip ear piece.
Get and equip helmet.
The way the lockers are set up now, they place the backpack, something you already spawn with (and something that takes up a lot of pixel space, so you can't click underneath it), at the top, followed by the flashlight, the boots, the gloves, etc. I propose to change that.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Change the order to this instead, as it would appear in code (bottom of the list would appear as the first item in game play):
Backpack <--- Last in the stack.
Flashlight
Helmet
Earpiece
Armor
Belt
Gloves
Boots
Uniform <--- First in the stack.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Save time, effort, and trying to pixel hunt for specific items via right clicking.

This would really speed up the round at the start just enough +1.

Sounds nice. Down with the alt-clicking!

You mean you don't... alt-click every single action you're doing in game's world? How have you kept your sanity?
If this is an issue, then +1. But I alt-click when I gear up, when I pick up stuff from vendors, when I grab my weapon from the ground, when I place wires... and it never seemed tedious to me.

+1 I'm sick of having to move that giant backpack that has no reason even being there to get to the shit I actually need.

Re: Reorganize Squad Lockers
When you alt-click a tile, it brings you a list of it's contents where your verbs/status are usually located. The list doesn't require pixel hunting, you can click anywhere around the item you want and it'll pick it up. This is insanely useful for picking small things or large amounts of them up, life meds, flares or ammo. Alt-click can be also used to interract with furniture and other things that are otherwise covered by something else, like removing grilles from under windows or administering help to a marine with his entire squad running over him. You can also click-drag from the alt menu, for undressing and the likes.

Re: Reorganize Squad Lockers
While we're at it, let's remove the backpack from the locker. We spawn with one and can grab one from the vendor if we need a second.

Personally i use the alt-click floor panel, but this is a good idea nonetheless. +1. Also remove the backpack since we spawn with it.

Don't remove the pack. It's for peels who lose their packs.ZDashe wrote:Personally i use the alt-click floor panel, but this is a good idea nonetheless. +1. Also remove the backpack since we spawn with it.

My +1, because there's people that don't realize the utility of the glorious Alt & Click

Also did I +1 this yet because it would make lives easier (+ a slight buff to marines because they are ready faster).

+1 A better thing would be a click system, sorta like the EVA lockers know what I mean?

Re: Reorganize Squad Lockers
I alt-click most of the time myself, but anything to speed up the flow of equipment preparation - even if it's for other people - would be great.Derpislav wrote:You mean you don't... alt-click every single action you're doing in game's world? How have you kept your sanity?

That said, this seems pretty low-effort, low-priority.

Re: Reorganize Squad Lockers
Or actually add infantry satchels to it so people can actually use them instead of the backpack

Re: Reorganize Squad Lockers
So low priority, as mentioned above, that it would take literal seconds to cut and paste the items in the code.
I support this. I do not think this will have any real impact on the suit-up times for Marines in the grand scheme due to how long it takes to get weapons, ammo, information and attachments.

Re: Reorganize Squad Lockers
Not worth making the changes right now, given how snow colony modified the spawn settings. Maybe in the future when it's playable.
