Dark Souls aka the gamer's nightmare

Sure the game has some bad rep, but lets leave that by the roadside like its a dingy hobo-hitchhiker and get down to the facts. Dark Souls is not for the faint of heart.

Overview:
Out of all the games I know of, Dark Souls has the biggest fanbase, except for Halo, Cod, and XCOM. Big difference is that this fanbase is loyal to a fault . Dark Souls is like that father that wants you to succeed even though you fail over and over and over ad infinium. Many people say Dark Souls is just too hard for them, I say they need to get good and start WATCHING the enemies for they aren't cardboard cutout NPCs. Each one has its own AI and moveset and if you know the moveset, you know when to come in for the kill.

Ways to die:
1. Falling off a cliff
2. Falling in general
3. Being slashed to bits
4. Being cursed (You go down to 50% health immediately and you can't be in human form.)
5. Poisoned
6. Toxic'd
7. Being bashed to a pulp
8. Traps (Looking at you Sen's Fucktress!)
9. Giant rolling boulders of fuck you
10. Giant crossbow bolts
11. Being bled (Bleeding takes a static chunk of health away INSTANTLY. Usually its 15-20% of your health.)
12. Being nibbled by evil dogs
13. Fire
14. Water (Character, y u no swim?!)
15. Environmental fuckery

Builds:
Now we come to the fun part, the builds. Dark Souls has classes, but they aren't static. The classes are there to give you starting items and starting stats. Otherwise, when you level up, its completely freeform. Feel free to make a tanky caster, or a glass cannon dual wielder (Not recommended). Your imagination is the limit of your character.)

Popular builds:
1. Cosplay
2. Giantdad (*shudder*)
3. Havel monsters (Full Havel's armor, greatshield and a random weapon, you'll know if you play Dark Souls 1 or 2.)

Conclusion:
So... I hope I shed some light on Dark Souls, let me know if you are interested in playing the game. Remember, death is a learning experience, even the veterans make mistakes. Sidenote: You WILL be smacked around like a bitch everywhere you go.

Bearer of the curse, seek Ricard's Rapier. For the Rapier will lead you to greater, stronger souls. You will never meet the King with a sword so frail and pallid.

But seriously, a good estoc - rapier build will break the game.

Roguelikes tend to make other games seem like iPad find the hidden object apps in comparison. Also Aurora4x oh god. For a slightly easier challenge play Spelunky. Took me about 297 deaths before my first victory.

Funny how the selling point of the game is "its hard", ive never played DS but i watched a few videos of it, it doesnt really look hard and the combat is nothing unique, plus they try hard to make the game seem obscure and mysterious.
Doesnt look like something i would play.

Play it for yourself to decide how hard it is. Looks can be deceiving and people win pvp in bizarre ways. A rapier at +3 can trump a Greatsword at +10 if the player is good enough.
