Allow researchers to revive dead xenos
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): There's some talk about whenever capturing xenos becomes a thing, how you'ld prevent marines from slaughtering xenos and how xenos could avoid being captured and hating it forever. So what if researchers, once they have a dead alien, could revive the alien somehow and then the alien would be pacified and unable to attack for ten minutes or some other ammount of time, giving aliens a choice if they want to be revived or not to RP with the researcher. Speaking of capturing xenos, this should only really be implemented once the researcher has a hostile specimen containment area or something to put xenos in.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): See above
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): See above
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Probably coding from the cloning machine? unsure.

Don't know how you'd do it, but I thought it should be possible to clone Xenos.

Re: Allow researchers to revive dead xenos
I've played a few rounds with an elite SPC I will refrain from naming who has been very skilled at taking xeno's alive.
With him, we successfully down and captured 2 rav's, but they die when you drag them off weeds. After the round, I questioned some kind of system for capturing xeno's alive. It was a bummer to work so hard to down them without killing them, only to have them die a few minutes later off the weeds. A neck collar that takes a minute to apply to the xeno, and takes the xeno 3 minutes to claw off would be pretty cool.
I would think if a smaller regiment of marines had the ability to capture xenos and get better guns from it, it MIGHT balance some of those rounds where there are 5 marines and 11 xeno's because it's late and nobody is joining or whatever.

Re: Maybe don't allow researchers to revive dead xenos
I like the idea of capturing xenos (it's even in the movies), I'm just not sure about cloning and reviving them. Should probably focus any efforts on mechanisms and tools to capture xenos before writing stuff to revive them.
Also, are there any current benefits to capturing a live xeno at this point? Marines should be able to get something from doing it... though, I don't know what that'd be.

Re: Maybe don't allow researchers to revive dead xenos
I mean, you can RP studying them. Don't think there's any actual game mechanic based benefit from capturing them. I think I read somewhere that the RnD overhaul update focuses on capturing xenos to study them and get new gear.Fox009 wrote:I like the idea of capturing xenos (it's even in the movies), I'm just not sure about cloning and reviving them. Yeah I think it's in the works, far off from now, but currently it only has RP value.

dunno about how you would get it to work ingame but..TheSlapDoctor wrote:Don't know how you'd do it, but I thought it should be possible to clone Xenos.
+1 from me.
EDIT2: Aliens: Ressurection Spoilers!
It happened in the story somewhere, Anyone remember Ripley Clones and Ripley 8 when they tried to clone her WITH and alien queen larva inside her and somehow it worked but wasn't perfect which arose to the clone xenos? Ill find the wiki page on it.
EDIT: Found the wiki page, I guess its not cloning aliens but more cloning a human with a queen larva inside her which is pretty cool anyway.
Don't know if it counts or not.

Neutral, it fits lore because of Alien Ressurection (horrible movie, it didn't happen).

Re: Allow researchers to revive dead xenos
-1. I would say reviving dead xenos sounds like a bad idea gameplay wise and InGame wise. Marines do tend to rack up a sizable kill count, and they are always bringing dead xeno corpses to the lab ( why guys? there is no point, research gains nothing from the corpses except cluttering everthing) What happens if you bring back a queen? an Ancient ravenger? something that can really fuck up the sulaco to put it bluntly. Anywho, i would think putting more resources towards 'capturing" then "reviving" xenos would be the way to go.

Re: Allow researchers to revive dead xenos
+1 Would probably need upgraded research pens to facilitate the xeno. theres also the problem of how to bring them back to life and then theres trying to find a xeno that actually wants to RP. but other than that sounds all good. just adds the problem that 9/10 xenos would break out of their pens and slaughter everyone but the ten minute delay should give the xeno some time to maybe reconsider? that is unless the queen orders for the xeno to go on a killing spree ( which she probably will). Basically its a risk and the researcher should know this if he DOES decide to bring one back to life it is a high risk and that he shouldnt be bringing back crushers or ravagers. There may also be the problem of there being two queens if a dead one is revived, but that can probably be fixed by not allowing queens to be revived

Re: Allow researchers to revive dead xenos
+1 Cause better RP things and maybe researcher wont be so bad. Also maybe limit the reviving to T1's and T2's just so there isnt a huge risk.

Re: Allow researchers to revive dead xenos
I can see it causing interesting RP scenarios where the marines are going bonkers over how the CL and the researcher are cloning/reviving xenos. I'm just wondering if some researchers just plan to revive xenos to grief the marines.
Perhaps if the xeno can't attack at all or do..anything.

Re: Allow researchers to revive dead xenos
It's REALLY hard to catch xenos alive. Not because we don't have tools, no, it's because the marine will just shoot it. One round I captured TWO brain dead larva, and put them in a safe spot so they couldn't escape. A marine asked to see them, I let him walk in and he shot BOTH of them. Another round I got an alien drone, which was then killed by the CO. It's just to difficult.

The typical marine stuff we have to deal with.Casany wrote:It's REALLY hard to catch xenos alive. Not because we don't have tools, no, it's because the marine will just shoot it. Re: Allow researchers to revive dead xenos
Would rather have a capture method.
Captured eggs are extremely popular in the lore,
Captured xenos are VERY SLIGHTLY seen in the lore here and here.
-1, get the critter crate non-collision and lock person over them for a cookie.

CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

Re: Allow researchers to revive dead xenos
I don't see how the capture method would really work honestly, the last one was litteraly a stunbaton in short and could fuck over any and all xenos in one hit, they usually weren't even captured, killed rather

Re: Allow researchers to revive dead xenos
Capturing xenos would have to be a thing but even then, cloning is getting removed. So......

Cloning isn't sticking around, so you wouldn't be able to revive xenomorphs. Denied for now.
