Invalid mutiny

Your Byond Key | Character Name: QuakeIV | Linton Smith

Accused Byond Key | Character Name: Most of the marines, namely Xur 'Ghost' Dergens.

Approximate time and date of the incident (Central US Time for fastest results): 6:10pm CST Feb 8th

What rule(s) were broken: RP, to some degree mutiny

Description of the incident: I ordered the squad leads to sound off over the command channel with their squad names four times over the course of thirty minutes or so. The only response was delta lead. I ordered all other leads demoted and replaced with squad specialists. Xur ordered everyone to mutiny and take over. I locked down the ship and notified command. They entered the bridge, at which point I did nothing. They shot and stabbed me over the course of five minutes until I died. Some guy was put in command in my place then operations continued.

This goes all the way from the upper cutoff of my logs to my death, I'm not sure it captures the part where xur orders everyone to kill me or not.

How you would punish the accused: Ban them for the violations in question I suppose. There were a lot of people involved, I have no idea how many honestly.

Ill be handling this report. And already after doing some diving. Xur and Adam were both attempting to take you down non lethally. Which is the proper way. The two that have seemed to have been using this mutiny to grief 'Which im still diving for logs' Is (Lance 'Medbox' Mercer) and (Lief Clewett) I will post any others who broke Mutiny rules here and will give my final report in my next post.

Wait, its valid for them to mutiny in response to me attempting to demote them? They were totally ignoring orders...

Demoting someone for not responding over the comms is a bit much. Plus they had the numbers needed to conduct the mutiny which means Enough people didnt like the idea. So yea it was a legit mutiny. A few of the people involved didnt follow munity rules and they will be delt with.

Eh, its standard procedure for me to demand a soundoff as a first check. It wasn't some kind of perverse punishment for not respecting my authoriteh, it was literally just they were probably worthless if they weren't listening to the command channel.

I tend to try to coordinate the ground teams a bit and move them around and such. So if delta gets attacked, I can call in alpha, have charlie continue guarding the nexus so they have somewhere to fall back to, and bravo can keep repairing the generator. (this example is arbitrary, i tend to assign nexus team off of who has the most engineers)

Everything turns into a clusterfuck of dead marines if the squad leads don't have the ability to watch the radio with some degree of attentiveness. This is because inattentive/moron Leads result in marines just running around doing whatever, which in turn leads to countless dead marines, massive casualties, and generally loss of the ship. e: Even if they are fairly active, then their failure to pay attention to command channel orders gets sqauds wiped because their backup didn't arrive, or somebody decided to abandon their post at the nexus, causing it to be full of hostiles when someone else tried to retreat there.

So I mean, yeah, if you look at it from the perspective of fair punishment, it was huge overkill. What I was trying to prevent was the huge number of dead marines that ended up happening, even though they eventually managed to win. As far as I know it was my prerogative as commander to swap out squad leads, so this seemed like an invalid mutiny to me since they mutinied only to keep xurchan in power.

So in my findings i find that Shotabandit Is quilty for not only breaking mutiny rules but also for attempting to cause others to breach rules as well by trying to have the non marine roles killed off as well. Esspecially the doctors. My verdict for him due to previous cases of griefing, Is a 5 day Ban.

As for Lanceprater12, He was found breaking the Mutiny rule of not attacking the CO if he is not fighting back. At no point did the CO fire a weapon or attack back in any sort of way. Not even after being attacked. So i find him guilty and recommend a 24 hour ban. As they do not have a background in any major griefing.
