Yup, B18 armor already have lights. Only smartgun has none, which I think is a good tradeoff, given that they have IR sight. Smartgunners just need to learn to carry flashlights in their pockets.

Agreed, I always wear one. Harness doesn't need lamp. -1

Carrying a flashlight in your pocket is what got the lamp added to standard armor in the first place. Additionally the 'ir' vision is mesons nothing more.

+1
I think the harness should have a lamp, and it has one in canon. We got rid of flashlights for standards for the same reason.

I've noticed that uh...the "IR" scope sights are...kinda just mesons. Last I checked, my LoS is limited to a flashlight range, and I jsut get a pretty screen color. And, forgive me fi I'm wrong, but on standard bay, IR sight lets you see things through walls yea? I mean, obviously this wouldn't work on xenos, but it would let you see friendlies.

This is wrong. The Smartgun visor is just red mesons. It does not help you see in the dark. Until tiles are illuminated you only see the turf you do not see the objects on said turf, this includes: furniture, mob sprites, players, literally anything that isn't a wall or ground.

The smartguns visor lets you see right up to the edge of your screen nearly. You can't see through walls but you can see that far.

The smartgun visor is just nightvision, not merely red meson. You can see in total darkness up to the edge of your screen minus 1 tile. You will have the best vision compared to almost all marines in low light conditions, sufficient ammunition, and reliable DPS. I think the lack of armor light is a good enough tradeoff, but that's just my opinion anyway.

That's also why you have other marines who remind you to bring flashlights because some smartgunners just pop up or disappear into the darkness. Others can't quite cover you because they can't see you, and friendly fire would become a problem. You can't see living objects through walls though.

dont know if any of you have actually played smartgunner, but the sight is mesons, and all of you saying otherwise are going by outdated info or plain bullshitting, which is really not appreciated

This is wrong. It is not night vision. It is mesons. You require a light source to see anything.

Honestly I hate mesons, they trick me into thinking that I can see farther than I actually can.

Alriiight then, seems there's a lot of misinformation flying around.

Snipers have mesons. Smartgun visors have some sort of wacky mix between NVG and mesons. In areas with full light, you'll be able to see everything. In areas with no light, you'll see everything -1 or -2 tiles away from the edge of your screen.

Yup, basically what Halinder said. You guys should play-test it yourself before stating inaccuracies..

But we digress... this is about armor light not Mesons or Thermal vision...

Without even bordering the discussion between mesons and NVG, I would just like to say that I'd actually appreciate if the smartgunner armor had a VERY VERY VERY LOW level of light (probably not further than the tile the smartgunner is on), as to be seen in the darkness, and not shot to shit.
Like the AvP 3 game's marines;

I mean why should it not? The lore harness has one and it would be really nice, and putting squad colors on it would be nice too awhile your at it.

Well, lamp on harness means Specialist will et free on pocket, which is usually occupied with flashlight, which is nice.
