Smartgun Ammo Increase/Change

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Give the smartgun the canon ammo capacity of 500 rounds, remove the extra power pack from the vendor, and change how the ammo feed system works.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): A truly great support weapon that allows a marine to lay down suppression fire without having to reload constantly due to the burst fire, and one that does not leave you or your team dead in the water if you get captured before reloading.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): It has been noted before, and an average marine can comfortably carry 330 rounds of ammo, plus anything they can fit into the backpack/webbing. I can reload my rifle in about 1.5 seconds while moving around. The smartgunner sacrifices their backpack for a single drum of 200 rounds, plus the 50 they start with in the smartgun itself, and they only have 50 round of ammo to work with before reloading (hardly an upgrade from a standard rifle due to burst fire). Every single power pack replacement after that reduces the smartgunner to a total of 200 rounds of ammo. You also have to stand completely still 3-4 seconds to reload the smartgun, leaving you vulnerable to all threats and pretty much putting you out of commission if the aliens attack at that moment. I propose the powerpack ammo is increased to 500 rounds per canon and the reloading is removed entirely. Have the powerpack act as the ammo magazine for the smartgun instead, feeding it ammo so long as the power pack retains ammunition.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): I hope to see this with Abby's reworked projectile system, with maybe some other changes to the smartgun. But basically, have the powerpack act as the ammo magazine itself, and the smartgun linked to it via a variable. Remove the extra power pack from the specialist vendor to compensate for increased ammo, and have ROs order more ammo if the smartgunners run out like they should be doing.

This would probably make it more viable in the standard situations a marine is in.

Seems more lore friendly, If a marine had to reload every five minutes while they were assaulting a xeno hive with a smart gun, they wouldn't take it in the first place. Auto tracking does jack shit if you can't fire the bullets. +1

+1, all the +1's. Also unless the powerpacks were fixed you only have 150 rounds in the pack and 50 in the gun. Also..smartgun bullets auto track now?

No, I meant in the games and movies and the like, the gun autotracks onto the target, you just squeeze the trigger more or less.

It`s ridiculous a standard marine can carry more ammo in his belt than the smartgunner can in his giant back mounted ammo container.
Hell a marine can hold 220 rounds in his belt without giving up the precious back slot and he can even toss 220 more rounds in his backpack.

I can see why you'd want this but as Derpi has brought up running out of ammo with a smartgun actually makes it rather tense and alot more enjoyable imo at least, but I also understand why you would want this as requisitions can be rather 'non-existant' in some rounds making the smartgun rather useless.

I like this, honestly, it makes the smartgun a much more viable specialist weapon, and gives the RO something else to order, as well as makes the people who complain about the smartgun happy.

+1 burst really burns through ammo, it would be nice to have more in reserve, especially since normal marines can carry more ammo in their belt alone
