Remove riot helmet and armor
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Currently the MPs have a baret and a M2 armor as starting equipment, but they can have a direct updgrade that is the Riot helmet and armor.
The question is why? They aren't retricted equipment so the MPs have no reason to not wear them, and using a riot gear around is kind off bad RP IMO and they look ugly and strange if compared with the rest of the equipment.
I suggest we remove riot gear, buff the M2 armor and add an MP helmet, similar to the M10 helmet but with a white MP inscription. READ THE DETAILS SECTION
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Less powergame from the part of the MPs and more RP
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
Removing the "riot armor" and "riot helmet items", buff the M2 armor to something similar to the riot armor (but worst) and give MPs a M10 "Military police" helmet with similar stats to riot helmet.
POST EDIT: After some good arguments from other players, I decided to chnage my idea to simply making guidelines and rules, similar to RULE 9 of the MPs regarding weapons
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
Make a rule similar to marine Rule 9 of the MPs (You may NOT have ANY lethal weapons, unless the Sulaco has been boarded) but adaptade to situations where riot gear has to be used for stuff.

Re: Remove riot helmet and armor
In general the riot gear is for when marine mutinies happen. Maybe there should be a rule/RP guideline not to use them before any issues arise, but removing it completely.. ehhh..

And yeah the riot gear is quite useless in my opinion since you're on a military ship and I think you'd just need tazers and non-lethal weapons.
But it's to stop riots so meh.

Riot gear, made to stop riots... What you gonna use when you are dealing with 7 or 8 angry marines with guns? -1

Haven't we all heard of what happens in the RO line? Riots happen there all the time. The MP's need some decent armor to stop the marines.

Re: Remove riot helmet and armor
Your whole argument is invalid, to be honest. You say remove riot armor because it's too OP and doesn't look well, but then you say you would buff the M2 armor. In my opinion, the M2 armor just looks bland, while riot armor adds at least some diversity. If I remember correctly, M2 armor is just one solid color with no texture or anything and a little shading. -1 from me.

...For the record, riot gear is actually awful against bullets and only good against melee damage.

Then its broken in CM, because if you visit the funny/amazing/whatever thread, some guy posted his legendary adventures as CO, when the bridge rampage started, aka him being shot by multiple marines, he was wearing riot armor, to quote him after he got shot plenty of timesHycinth wrote:...For the record, riot gear is actually awful against bullets and only good against melee damage.

And riot gear makes sense, its made to stop riots, its intimidating, and it offers decent protection in melee
It has its uses,it also slows the wearer down,so Pros and Cons
Though a guideline on WHEN to wear it would help.

Re: Remove riot helmet and armor
-1 on removing riot helmet and armor, just so that if you see an MP wearing riot gear, you know that something's not quite right on Sulaco. Maybe a mutiny is going on or something big enough to warrant a gear change.
I agree that if we have guidelines on when to wear it, it would add more value to RP. I have no clue about the stats, but they should fit the occasion of a PROPER NON-LETHAL mutiny.
Imagine if players declare a mutiny properly, and actually for once use their FISTS instead of guns, a brawl on the bridge might actually be more amusing and fun. Riot gear at that point would probably make sense.
Edit: I like the idea of fists because it would be fun to just line up and punch the Commander right in the face when he deserves it =P

Ah, ignore what I said then. I must've been thinking of different servers. That armor looks really good. Apart from that, I am still down voting this idea because of how useful riot gear is and it makes perfect sense to have this gear on a military vessel.SecretStamos (Joshuu) wrote: No shading, solid color he says.

Re: Remove riot helmet and armor
I'll agree with a guidline for when to use riot armor. After halinders CL round, we know it turns you into a b-18 bullet sponge, or stronger. Set a guidline for when it's allowed...of course if you're doing corp espionage, it's always allowed. +1

+1 to limit the gear to something they get for mutiny.

Re: Remove riot helmet and armor
Riot gear now slows you down significantly, but adds more protection. Invalidish.
