Make Boiler Stalking Reduce Their Glow

Post by Halinder » 16 Mar 2016, 04:36

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): When boilers choose "stalk" instead of "run", reduce their glow to the point where they only light up the tile that they are on.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): While also making the boiler unbearably slow (that's where the balance comes in), it would allow them to be sliiightly more stealthy, as well as preventing them from giving away fellow xenos.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
- Allow the stalk option to reduce boiler glow to only cover the tile they are on.
- While making the boiler slow and vulnerable to marines, it also allows it to be slightly sneakier and preserves the xenos around it.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): N/A

I didn't even know boilers had a glow until someone pointed it out. It should stay because if a boiler can shoot a marine sniper, the sniper should be able to see it too. I don't play boiler but if the glow actually gets you killed I am ok with this stalk thing

With his suggestion the sniper would still be able to see the boiler, since the boiler's tile would still glow.

Well, it's not logical a bit, but I think, boiler can have this minor buff. +1

Why not? It makes sense. I guess running for a boiler uses too much of the body to generate light and stalking would use less energy to produce less light.

I don't thinking that lowering it's body would make a boiler glow any less.

Not seeing a ton of support for this, and just going slow probably wouldn't make the boiler glow any less. Denied.
