Equipment cart

Post by Kilm » 16 Mar 2016, 07:21

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): A cart, much like the janitorial cart, but sexier, for stacking on various things (Sentry turrets anyone?) for ease of transportation and resupply

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Immersion for one, easier movement of equipment for Marines, more realistic.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Take the standard janitorial cart, paint it green, sex it up and give it a decent storage space so that it could at least carry all four sentry turret crates.

Currently, as an Engineer, you carry your sentry turret crate. Really? The thing must weigh a fucking ton. It's completely ridiculous. As seen in Aliens, they cart them about on a trolley to place them, and I like that idea. I think it'd give a bit more organisation to Engineers and also make the whole resupply thing more realistic, as rather than a Marine coming back and spewing ammo and stuff out of his backpack or a crate he's dragging behind him, he can wheel it all back down on a cart.

Perhaps as well, the way in which you can stack the signs on the janicart, maybe you can stack a small number of guns as well?

The RO can have four, one per squad perhaps? He can be in charge of issuing them out.

We all know that some Marines meta the shit out of resupply, and we all know that people will drag crates back from the Sulaco full to the bring with stuff. Lets make it more immersion orientated then.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Paint the cart green, rename it 'Equipment trolley' and code it so the sentry cases can fit on it.

+1, but needs to be a nerf for balance, like make pulling turrets really slow down a marine so there is a need for the crate.

And -1 for "sexifieng" the crate... just a very strange way to stay that... "sex" up a cart? just sounds sooo wrong...

I'm 100% ok with marines walking down to the LZ with their modified janitor cart just like, "yo, i put 20 sadar rockets in this bitch. used to only hold mops, now it holds my much needed killing machine ammo."

Yep, slowdown is a fair nerf for the carrying capacity.

I don't understand why it'd be denied, the current effort some people go to to carry more than a normal loadout is already bordering on stupid, and the concept of being able to carry a sentry crate single-handedly along with everything else on your persons is even more daft.

Did we not once had ammo boxes, aka giant boxes of ammo which you could carry or pull, and had a fuckton of ammo and REALLY usefull for defending fob?

That rings a bell...... are you sure it wasn't just a standard crate filled with stuff? I can definitely recall something like this.

No you thinking of the other one, i am talking about the ones which you could pick up or pull and store ammo in it, like 30 or so magazines? maybe even more?

MrJJJ is right,it was the "Ammo Box" could have 30 clips/magazines of any kind

Which was totally good, could fit in lore and were really usefull. I have no idea why they didn't immigrate on Alpha.

It was this that we had pre-alpha, which was rather useful. Though I do feel that it was probably removed as supply beacons basically replaced its main function.

There is also this suggestion about the ammo bag: http://colonial-marines.com/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=5272

I don't think I would like this. Things are crowded enough without a bunch of carts in the way.

I think cargo could use a cart that can move single crates. When your whole job as CT is moving crates to the pod and back then the slowness starts to be annoying. Most of the time it's a single crate, so the Ripley is not very efficient.
