Huggers breaking skulls
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Removing a hugger can do alot of damage and break your skull. This mechanic is unnecessary and I didn't know it was even in the game. As if being on a timer and relying on your friends to not get infected wasn't enough, now you can be removed from the game for 30 minutes just by being huggered and surviving. And considering every alien can carry huggers, this isn't a very good idea.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): I don't know how this benefitted anybody in the first place
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Just make hugger removal not break skulls.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):

I'm neutral, tbh. Its very annoying but it'd be hard to code seeing as bones auto break after a certain amount of brue.

Re: Huggers breaking skulls
Well when it happened I went from high health to red flashing instantly because of the broken skull, not sure. It's just another mechanic that gets marines out of the round for a long time because of surgery. And punishes good marines that pull huggers off.Mitchs98 wrote:I'm neutral, tbh. It's lore accurate. Hell, it isn't even lore accurate because you shouldn't be able to pull them off in the first place.

Re: Huggers breaking skulls
I'd rather have this be kept in as it give the marines a more of a sense to FEAR huggers.
And they can easily be patched up if you deal with them before they get face hugged twice.

Re: Huggers breaking skulls
Honestly, I've never seen an excessive amount of broken skulls from this. If you survive getting hugged, find a medic if you haven't already been swarmed by them. We usually have very little to do...

How does marines getting NOT getting broken skulls from huggers reduce fun for aliens anyway? It harms potential hosts. Yeah the one hugger didn't work, so try again.Boltersam wrote: Correction, marine fun > lore.

Again. What the other dude said. You are very lucky that u can pull off huggers. But it should have a cost to it..spheretech wrote: How does marines getting NOT getting broken skulls from huggers reduce fun for aliens anyway? It harms potential hosts. Yeah the one hugger didn't work, so try again.

Not lucky that you can pull off huggers. If you couldn't that would be gamebreakingly stupid and unfair. From marine perspective this is just another way that takes out of the round for a long time. Imagine being an alien and being shot with a sniper, causing you to need to regrow a leg for 30 minutes inside the hive. Because thats what basically getting a broken skull is. This is on the same level as random acid burning you when an alien next to you takes damage. It's unnecessary.Logi99 wrote: Again. What the other dude said. Is it already time for the weekly "nerf da xenos fun > lore" Spheretech suggestion?

I've never experienced this, could it be that your head was injured beforehand? Eg friendly fire/slashing.
-1, I might change my mind on this.

According to leaked damages, two huggers pulled off break the face.Rey wrote:I've never experienced this, could it be that your head was injured beforehand? Eg friendly fire/slashing.

Frankly if you managed to get hugged twice like so it would probably be your own fault... Still if the damage could be reduced to 3 huggers per broken face, that would be fine.Azmodan412 wrote: According to leaked damages, two huggers pulled off break the face.
When I play doctor it is quite rare to see a broken head, about 1-2 in 10 cases.

Re: Huggers breaking skulls
I know the feel of hugger destroying your head, no i did not get a broken skull, i got fucking BRAIN damage instead, which is retarded, aliens carry huggers enough to kill a standard ALWAYS, let's not forget they can hug and decap, m? i was a medic durning such time too, i don't ever recall huggers actually breaking someones brain or giving them brain damage, this was never in pre-alpha, as i never suffered bone fractures or damage to the head from a hugger, neither a brain damage, ever
+1 for making hugger less stronger, this is getting out of hand, its not uncommon for me to see a marine with more brute damage on head than he should have from a hugger or something broken/brain damage

Maybe if OP takes a stint of playing xeno, they'd understand how the world works.

Attempts to remove facehuggers generally prove fatal—the parasite will squeeze the host's neck with its tail, while the facehugger's highly acidic blood deters cutting it off. Not only this, but its grip is so firm, peeling it off would result in tearing off the host's face.
So, how is clawing your face results in broken skulls?

Because in order to simulate the damage done by tearing the hugger off, the marine victim gets brute damage. Brute damage, if you have enough of it, breaks bones.
From what I can tell, it's not that the coders decided to make huggers break skulls, they just wanted to put a bit of brute damage on when the hugger is ripped off, and a side effect of that is a broken skull.
Lorewise, they can't even be pulled off and as far as I can tell, your skull isn't going to be broken EVERY time you get a hugger torn off of your face. So I'm putting a -1 on this.

And complete ignorance of what i just said, lorewise, they can be pulled off, but this tends to happen.Wickedtemp wrote:

You asked why pulling the hugger off results in broken skulls, I answered, then made a comment as to what my position was regarding this thread. The portion you quoted wasn't directed at you, but... I quoted you because you said they can't be pulled off, i pointed out again that they can, but its almost really impossible, so far nobody could as far as i know pull of a hugger, but because we prefer balance and fun over lore, you can pull them out.Wickedtemp wrote: You asked why pulling the hugger off results in broken skulls, I answered, then made a comment as to what my position was regarding this thread. Re: Huggers breaking skulls
two huggers break faces.
four or so decap you outright, if you didn't know. there're also times where the hugger is removed only for you to get hugged by a lucky carrier on the way back.
neutral, people who don't even play anymore instantly jumped onto the "skree nerf" train, I believe the real issue is not the brute itself but the broken skull and the brain damage, so if there's a way to go around it, as in removing the skullbreaking, which is hard (?), or making huggers deal burn damage instead, then it'd probably solve it.

Re: Huggers breaking skulls
This would be pretty balancing and would enforce helmets alot more. However being out of the round for thirty minutes would basically be death to some people.
