small

Post by Sadokist » 29 Mar 2016, 04:07

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
Just a small suggestion but it bothers me for some reason when marines burst and there's no noise. Just they fall over and larvae appear, no cracking noise of the ribs or anything.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
It'd be more realistic. I mean if something is breaking through your ribs you're gonna hear it for shizzle.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
Just have it exactly the way it is, just add in a noise when it happens.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):

+1 For a sound implementation. However, with how it is now, I think it's all toxin damage. So with that logic, we aren't even having our ribs cracked it's just "boom, you had a baby, and unbelievable toxin amounts". However, I could be wrong.

This is true, and I still support the idea. I'm just stating that as is, it's more along the lines of it just breaks a layer of skin, instead of your entire bone structure, giving the way the corpse and everything is handled.

I looked through a bunch, I think these are the best. Mind you the top is celery, but it sounds great first off and second off most movie/game sounds of gore come from the use of veggies, sticks, slime, fruit. Probably because humans are organic too, sounds of breaking such are really no different.

Damn, I just imagined hearing this from backroom of your FOB where are wounded marines and, damn, that's a bit scarry!

Paradise has screams whenever people get hurt (voices with obviously being the same voice for everyone detract from the atmosphere I think but screams and stuff like that are fine), I remember encountering an 'auto-borger' in an AI core once and hearing repeated shredding of metal and fleshy sounds from within the walls, that kind of stuff really adds a lot of fun creepiness.

On a semi related thing, too lazy to make another topic - the "breathing" (aliens don't breathe so it's kind of silly in that way, but could be changed to sort of.. I don't know, ambient alien noises) noise when playing as an alien is pretty cool on TG too tho it'd need an option to toggle it off for long rounds possibly getting annoying (also animated facehuggers when aliens holding them with squishy wiggling tails, and a cool pounce animation that's way too fast to screenshot), and vents being actual oxygen pipes that make ominous creaking as aliens move around through them like Alien: Isolation (which I think everyone HAS to try, it's so great).

1+

But If this is implemented, the sound might alert nearby marines, say, past walls. It would give away nearby larvas in maint, maybe entire hives in extreme cases. Just wondering how far you'll make it audible if it's put into CM.

People, add to this suggestion scream when you get pounced by hunter and runner. Please. That would totally make sense. Because almost always you can't even write "HELP!" in squad's/general channel before you get hugger on your face. Yesterday I was pounced in Nexus when there were 2 fucking marines in 1 tile from screen's border and they didn't notice me getting pounced, hugged and dragged away.

Makes sense, seems like it would be relatively easy to implement, and fits the atmosphere very well. I'm surprised this isn't already in the game, actually.

+1 because any kind of new sounds are always welcome

As for the sound revealing a hive, well, if a marine is nested he can already alert everyone of your location. Pretty sure that's not a problem. Anyway, if there's a drone hidden on the ship he's not gonna nest anyone, and if he does, he'll get revealed instantly.

This is kind of implemented already, isn't it? Not a bursting noise, but marines always scream just before they burst automatically. An actual rib-cracking noise would be appropriate, though.

I rarely hear the scream for the burst if it is, either way the main suggestion is about the actual sound of the burst so the eating through your stomach and piercing the skin etc sounds.

Slightly off topic but please change your suggestion topic name. Ithe makes it easier to sort through suggestions if they have what the topic is about in the title.
