Approximate time and date of the incident (Central US Time for fastest results): 4/10/2016 11:00 AM-ish CST

What rule(s) were broken: 11. No Metagaming

Description of the incident: So. I spawned in as a doctor, RP'd just saying 'fuck it' an entering cryo as the aliens had already boarded and was fucking everything up. I tossed my medkits at the marines and re-entered cryo. Some moments later Crusher 646 comes by and somehow knows what a cryo pod does, drags my ghosted body off, and sticks me to a nest and infects me. I reported it to Jackserious, they stated it wasn't meta. Yet...it's been meta since Pre-Alpha, always, for an xeno to operate a cryo pod to retrieve SSD hosts. It's been meta on Alpha as well as I've seen staff tell xenos not to do it.

Evidence (screenshots, logs, etc): None, several people witnessed however. Wasn't fast enough to gyazo it.

How you would punish the accused: Warning, preferably.

Its hard as fuck to enforce this every round as it happens constantly.

Perhaps dont allow aliens to open the cryo sleepers.

I always wondered if that was meta, I mean the cryo pods have a big glass door, the aliens could probably smash the damn things if they wanted it. In the Colonial Marines trailer we see at least one of the cryo pods smashed open.

My reasoning was that you have a van-sized dinosaur, renown for its capacity to overpower hydraulics and pry open AIRLOCKS, versus a flimsy pod with transparent glass and clearly a host inside.

Its hard as fuck to enforce this every round as it happens constantly. Obviously most of the time no one notices so players think its allowed.

Perhaps dont allow aliens to open the cryo sleepers?

I don't see why. It makes no sense for cryogenics to be ULTRA-SAFE NUCLEAR BUNKERS.
Those bodies are going to be deleted anyhow.

In canon material, it's been shown they are quite easy to pull apart, and those inside have been infected in multiple instances.

Youre not wrong, from a RP aspect it makes sense.... aliens would infect cryoed people.

Weve just always enforced aliens not ejecting marines from cryo.

I can understand, but I'm also saying legacy is not an entirely valid thing to enforce, you know?
Honestly, I'm in support of xenos being able to infect cryo'ed people.

Regardless, this is not the right thread for that, I'll just see how this goes.

Situation investigated.

As the admin who told jack this was allowed im going to put my foot down here. I don't understand why staff count this as meta anymore. It is NOT located within the rules and I have never seen a head directly say that it is meta.

The point of the meta rule (as well as the power gameing rule) is to provide a base for staff to enforce the tiny things that can't be counted under rules but can still ruin or damage the round for other people. Opening a cryopod to pull out a visible host (while it may not be 100% transparent it is still a acceptable for a xeno to assume that there is something inside and enquire about it just the same as checking lockers)

So until a head tells me otherwise im going to allow this becuase:
A. It's not game breaking.
B. Anyone who enters it will be removed five minautes after so you shouldn't be going to cryo in the middle of combat anyways.
And C. It makes sense for a xeno to check the pod for humans just as much as it does for a locker (and if you want to argue that they use thermal for that. Players who enter the pods are not 100% cryoed until they are removed so the xenos thermal would still detect them)
