Replacer for Cloning

Post by ThatOneEngie » 12 Apr 2016, 21:56

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):

With all the talk of the cloners being removed, i've been a salty little asshole, however, after talking in the shoutbox, I have an idea. To quote me;
" I still think that there should be a machine on the sulaco that brings back marines after being dead, changing to crit, with all the same injuries. That, I would be okay with "

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):

It will calm the tits of those that want the cloners gone, provide a solid middleground for those who want it, and make the medical staff much more useful and respected.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):

As said, but to keep it fair for the marines, make it have 99-100% chance of succeeding, no time limits, but only have it on the sulaco, maybe have a cooldown for two minutes or so.

So kind of like a defib, since I think it does exactly what you described. It already exists and people don't use them because the time frame is too small.

The defib has a time limit for when it can bring back a marine. This wouldn't.

Yea, if you we modified the defibrillator to bring people back that would be cool; I still however think that chance that it would succeed should be 80%-100% and have a cool down of 30 - 60 seconds, I don't think it should be isolated to the Sulaco, but it should HAVE to carry a battery with it that empties after 3-4 shocks. I also think it should only work with people who died in the last 3-6 minutes maybe more.

I think the cloning machines are okay, but if they were removed it would add an increased intensity to the game because you only have one life and no extras. thus making you act safer and think more about your actions, this would contribute to immersion factor quite well I think. as well as make the Doctors and medical staff more valuable, respected, and gives the marines another reason to protect the Medbay when the Aliums eventually try a rush on the Sulaco.

No, i'm saying have one isolated to the sulaco that would have a much, much higher chance to revive, but definitely buff the defibs.

I don't know... I like this idea but I feel like it might hamper the aliens in an unforeseen way. If you had the chance of far later down the road of being res'd would you then join as alien or would you sit around, drink a space dew, eat a donk pocket, and wait for someone to drag you back to the sulaco? I'm undecided on this.

That's a thing with cloning in general, I know myself, I refuse to play aliens period, i know others feel the same way.

Also, as a side note, I personally would hope that it has a 10% chance of playing a MIDI version of " Kickstart my heart "

... So I was originally against this. But... I won't lie. If this was added, it might just push me to support it because FUN.

Or at the very least buff defibs and give THOSE a small chance to play it.

-1 UNLESS it has a 100% chance to work and can be used on the same person multiple times(because lets face it most doctors are shit as fuck), in which case +1. This is the ONLY way I can see cloning being removed. It would also have to work for decapped marines once the heads were replaced onto the bodies, otherwise once again..removing cloning and replacing it with anything would be bs.

Valid points, I would agree on it working on decaps, but only after the re attachment surgery. Alongside that, 100% chance to work is ideal, but multipule times seems over the top, as it would let med staff be lazy ( Even though most aren't )

There isn't simply being 'lazy'. Some injuries are so great only extremely skilled medical can heal them. It wouldn't be over the top, it would make it viable for natural doctor stupidity. Multiple times is also not over the top if the same person dies more than once. If its replacing cloning, it better be as damn viable as cloning to a degree.

IF THIS IS ADDED WE HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO USE DEFIBS EVER

I mean fuck, why not use the obviously superior option?

Just extend the time limit for define to work to 15 minutes or maybe half an hour! Machines like this makes defibs unused!

Defibs are already unused due to most medics/doctors being incompetent as hell. This would change nothing. Defibs would need at LEAST a 45 mins- hour timer to consider them over this.. Even then, it'd be iffy, since most people don't have the common sense to know defibs= useful.

THERE'S ONLY ONE CLONER ON THE MAP, IN THE SULACO, AND IT'S STILL USED OVER THE DEFIB!

They're unused NOW because there's a way better alternative, the cloner. If buffed to 45 minutes or so, there's a realistic chance of your body gettinback to someone with a defib in time.

The defibs are unused becasue they stop fucking working fucking ten milisecconds after the fucking marine dies. Yes that's a exaggeration.

So you are saying replace cloning

With something EXACTLY like cloning, but keeping the same injuries

This kind of defeats the point of removing cloning if this is done, you are literally replacing cloning with a cloning-like machine, not many differences

As opposed to the current proposed bullshit timer of ten minutes? I'm sorry, a ten minute timer helps nothing at all. Not really. Nor does it help decaps.

Seriously? You're telling me a 45 minute timer which can revive corpses which have been decapitated isn't remotely over-powered at all?

No shit. Try stopping the bleeding if the person is already dead, then revive them, easy as shit. Besides, 2 minutes = Brain is rip.
