Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Instead of toggle darkvision, make it so xenos can see what tiles are lit at all times.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Xenos don't have to push a button to see light and loose their darkvision while doing so.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Dark tiles are shaded darker, while lit tiles are shaded bright. Similar to how lighting works with tiles further away from a light source are darker. Instead for xenos there would only be two shades, one indicating darkness and one indicating light.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):

Re: replacement for toggle darkvision
Now, THIS I would like. Hitting Numkey 2 all the time to toggle on and off darkvision is annoying. Although, I'm not sure how easy it will be to implement this. Perhaps change the xeno's "Darkness" icon opacity, or something?
TLDR: Go back and read it. I spent time writing that, ya know.

I don't know how drastically different it is in CM's code, but in most SS13 code types Dark/Thermal/Infra vision are hardcoded assets as I understand it (For race menus at least). I've also played my entire life as a Xeno not realizing we had dark vision and I need to commit ritual tail seppuku.

I'm not sure this is possible, but I want it to be possible.

Make it a macro. It's very simple to do this. Then with one easy to push button, you toggle it on and off REAL EASILY. Noize has a pretty good guide on it.
With the current lighting system, I don't see this as possible.

This... I'd have to look in to features of 510, which I think makes this possible, but who knows.Noize wrote:Neutral
