Ghost replacements for SSD'ing ERT / maybe other important jobs too
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
If an ERT (or worse, the ERT leader) suddenly has to go because there's an unmarked black van pulling up to their doorstep or they're just a selfish dick (see also: doctors that randomly SSD in hidden places inside their station, commanders/CMO/CE/RO that SSD inside their locked offices) it screws up the round for the rest.
It'd be pretty good if when one of them SSDs for over 5 minutes (to allow for connection dropouts), ghosts get a one-time popup asking if they want to join as ERT. Could also repurpose the IC > Join Reponse Team button to behave differently if ERT are already in play, making it an option to take over a body in the same way as Join as Xeno does.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
People get screwed over by random SSDers less, and ERT are more interesting rather than it usually enduping up with 1 or 2 left wandering around aimlessly and not really behaving like PMCs/Dutch's Dozen etc.

Just take the time to be responsible and put the SSD crew members in cryo.
Staff typically replace ERT members if they ahelps they have to go.

+1 on this one, I'd even go as far as notifying the online admins about SSD players every so often so they can manually clean it up and/or free job slots.

It isn't our job to clean up players and replace them. Just simply put them in cryo, it's simple.mullvad wrote:+1 on this one, I'd even go as far as notifying the online admins about SSD players every so often so they can manually clean it up and/or free job slots.

Players might be hidden in lockers and/or other places you would normally not find them as indicated in an earlier post in this thread, notifying the moderators or administrators of this would allow them to handle this, maybe even ask the player to cryo himself the next time he needs to go away for an extended period.Snypehunter007 wrote:It isn't our job to clean up players and replace them. You are a moderator, it's your job to ensure everyone has a great experience whilst keeping out the bad guys, people who go SSD as medical, command and/or other important roles without cryoing themselves and/or allowing themselves to be cryod should be taken care of IMO

My job is to enforce rules. If you believe people are wasting roles or have ruined rounds by doing this, just report them.mullvad wrote:Players might be hidden in lockers and/or other places you would normally not find them as indicated in an earlier post in this thread, notifying the moderators or administrators of this would allow them to handle this, maybe even ask the player to cryo himself the next time he needs to go away for an extended period.

Re: Ghost replacements for SSD'ing ERT / maybe other important jobs too
Once again stating what i said in my previous response on this thread, how will i ever know if a doctor decides to go SSD in a locker for the entire round, taking up a job spot?Snypehunter007 wrote:My job is to enforce rules. Well, I hope somebody who plays doctor doesn't do that, but that is an IC issue unless they have gone SSD at round start. They can go SSD after then, yeah it's a dick move and it sucks but, it is IC.

So you are telling me that signing up as the CMO or XO and going SSD in a locker is a IC issue? I refuse to believe that

Re: Ghost replacements for SSD'ing ERT / maybe other important jobs too
SSD is an IC thing to explain an OOC probelm, aka the player has disconnected from the game. We do ban people from jobs if they go SSD at round start or soon after without cryoing themselves. If a CMO goes SSD, say, in the middle of the round, yes it is IC.

Re: Ghost replacements for SSD'ing ERT / maybe other important jobs too
If someone has to SSD, and they are not placed in cryo, returning to have somebody else inhabit their body isn't going to fly well with the player. It was a problem in the past when admins took over SSDing characters and had that player come back. For ERTs, maybe, but probably not worth worrying about at the moment. Denied for now.
