What is Byond/SS13's infatuation with the soviets? This is something I've always been curious about sense I started playing this game of 2d spessmens

it's just a meme. soviet culture is laughed at because no love for my homies in the bloc.

People are interested in the Soviet Union for the same reason they're interested in North Korea. It has dystopian qualities to it, with an all-seeing pervasive government, and an incredibly tough lifestyle involved. There's a reason a considerable amount of people consider Slavs to be hardy people.
