Weyland-Yutani knew. They'd seen xenomorphs before and they knew that if the archaeology team dug deep enough they'd find the biological weapons division plenty of test subjects, for a retrieval team to pick up later. Unfortunately for the company, the android with instructions to disable the distress beacon got caught in a landslide a week earlier and the marines showed up before WY did. Sending in the team now would be... provocative. The company has decided to let this play out as it may, but there's one problem. The Files. The security chief was putting together a pretty tidy dossier on what was going on, and he almost figured it out in time. The USCMC CANNOT find those files. Fortunately, there's a company man aboard for just such an occasion.


Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
The Files are an objective for the CL. There are two of them on the planet, one in IA and one in a random location somewhere in the complex. They have a chance of spawning into various places when a CL joins the server. The CL will have a fax waiting for them telling them where the files are and a fax to give to the commander if they start arguing about the CL going down to the planet. The CL has to find an excuse to go down to the planet with the marines, try to get the files as quietly as possible and destroy them. The CL would get victory conditions based on what happens to the files.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
Burke didn't stay on the ship, he was in the shit personally, something which isn't true of many CLs. This gives CLs a reason to go down to the planet, something to do while they're there, and lots to RP with the grunts. It wouldn't require much coding (I think) and would make CL into not usually an antag role but more of a suspicious role, which is likely the relationship between most sensible marines and CLs. The CL would get victory conditions, giving the objectives weight.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
When a CL spawns, they have a chance of receiving two faxes from WY as described above and the following antag objectives:
1. Secure and destroy Internal Affairs Files 317-A and 317-B. One is located in the Internal Affairs building, and one is in [location]
2. Do not allow anyone to discover the nature of the files' contents.

They are verified at round end based on if they have been burned or otherwise destroyed and if any marine has read them respectively. The CL will receive a victory for destroying the files regardless of if he lives or not. If the files are destroyed without anyone noticing, it's a Weyland-Yutani major victory. If a marine reads a file it is a USCMC minor victory, if they fax it to command it's a major victory. The files remaining on the planet with no one having touched them is a USCMC minor victory, as after the shitshow that is a CM round the entire USCMC science division would be sent to investigate. Files read but not faxed and then destroyed is a WY minor victory.

The CL will receive a lighter in their office to burn the files. The files are regular files with the names Internal Affairs Files 317-A and 317-B. Using them produces the text:
"You flip through the files. Mining reports... deep surface scans showing...life? Whatever's in here, Command Headquarters would love to see it."

The point I made to Vrai is that the thread Loko has posted is only lore, with no impact on gameplay. The main goal of this suggestion is getting the CL on the planet on a semi-regular basis, the files themselves are a means to accomplish this goal. Thanks Vrai!
