Deploy Bipod

Post by stobarico » 25 Apr 2016, 22:02

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Well, it would be quite simple, instead of it activating after some shots, you would have to go to the "Activate Attatchment" menu and activate it, and, once you moved, it would deactivate

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Makes the bipod more "realistic"

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Well, it would be a good defensive attatchment and would be more usefull for the sniper, since you stay stationed most of the time

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Just do the same system that the scopes use

I agree. As it stands, I haven't actually had the bipod work that much for me, even near tables.

+1, bipod not so useful as it should be especially due to burst fire disable and small additional bonuses comparing to grip.

Bumping since this does seem useful.

But make it so that the you have to do it next a table, barricade etc.

It would make the bipod more useful and actually feel as if you have to decide where you want to deploy yourself to get the best positioning, so yeah +1

I can do this. But I need some more feedback.

Have the bipod kick in when you use the Deploy Bipod verb or remain stationary for one second, whichever comes first; moving cancels its benefits.

I would be down for this, as described. Deploy, get a big boost to accuracy and stability, lose the bonus when you move away and have to take a second to deploy the bipod again.

This has several issues, particularly with scopes. I would have to make the bipod deploy automatically if the scope is activated, which would take some hacking together. But more than that, I kind of feel it should deploy on barricades while standing up. You can't just pop it in mid air and expect it to do something. And in that case, that requires a lot of exceptions from the way it works right now.

If the Bipod is changed to need some kind of adjacent object/surface to trigger its benefit like a table or barricade, it should be made _significantly_ better.

It already has a benefit for being propped on an object. That is a feature.

Ah, I thought it kicked in automatically while stationary; seemed to be the case when I used it, but maybe I was adjacent to some kind of surface without realizing it then.

I rewrote bipods since their functions were disabled with the gun update. They will work as follows: You activate attachment if you want to get into a position to use the bipod. If it finds something, you will get a message. If you are already in a position to shoot and keep that position, or it doesn't find anything, it will instead activate your other attachments. When you shoot and you are not in the right position, the bipod will "deactivate" automatically and you can try and get into a new position. You have to be facing the same way as you did when you established a position for the bipod, among other things. It should be fairly logical. Bipods work with tables, racks, and metal barricades, though there may be a few others I'm not aware of. Should work fine regardless.
