Naming weapons/sentries with a knife
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Add the ability to carve a name into a weapon using a knife
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): while subtle, it adds a little but of customization and personalization that adds flavor to the RP.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): When you use a knife on your weapon, a textbox appears that says "Enter the name of your gun" or something. The only way you would see this name is if you examined it (It has the name 'Vera' carved into it.'). This would also work with sentries as well.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Minor amounts of coding.

Or just add a labeler to every squad prep.

+1, all the marines in the movie seemed to enjoy personalizing their armor and weapons. More customization is always great as well.

Apop has already said that we'll never allow this to avoid names like "Ass Blaster 69"

You shouldn't even have to do this, Chem has two. If they aren't willing to leave one or both in the lobby of medical, that sucks, but it's the closest we've got. I'm sure more can be found in other areas too.Dyne wrote:Or just add a labeler to every squad prep.
Does that mean we can get in trouble for using a labeler to name something? Or just more obscene stuff?monkeysfist101 wrote:Apop has already said that we'll never allow this to avoid names like "Ass Blaster 69"

I'll be sure to label the SADAR that next time I get my hands on a labeler, thanks.monkeysfist101 wrote:Apop has already said that we'll never allow this to avoid names like "Ass Blaster 69"

I mean... it's not renaming the weapon's item name. It'd just be for when you examine it. I don't see any harm in it.monkeysfist101 wrote:Apop has already said that we'll never allow this to avoid names like "Ass Blaster 69"

Yes, lets all run to medbay/cargo for extra stuff to name our guns with, makes perfect sense.Varnock wrote: You shouldn't even have to do this, Chem has two. I did not know this, but it would make things WAY easier than the ones in chem.Jeser wrote:Psss, cargo has labelers too...
It's not like we already don't, and it wouldn't be hard to leave one out inside cargo so people getting gear from Req can name something on the way out.Dyne wrote:Yes, lets all run to medbay/cargo for extra stuff to name our guns with, makes perfect sense.

Dependant on lots of chips falling in the right direction. Knife or labeler for all preps is much more accessible.Varnock wrote: It's not like we already don't, and it wouldn't be hard to leave one out inside cargo so people getting gear from Req can name something on the way out.

What do you mean? You literally just ask the RO or CT for the thing when you get to the front of the line. Why would they say no? Either way, we really don't need this, as ways already exist and this would just put more work on the devs and coders.Dyne wrote:Dependant on lots of chips falling in the right direction. I don't know what to tell you, but this remains something we don't need since we can already do it with what we have available.

Add extra four labelers, and then we can.

Re: Naming weapons/sentries with a knife
Could be useful so that comrade sentry can be named in the heat of battle.
