Give Survivors hidden jobs
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Essentially, give some survivors hidden jobs, which gives more appeal to being a survivor, and surviving to get to the Sulaco. Usually, survivors will ghost or become a doctor or engineer upon reaching the Sulaco, this gives them more things to do.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): We'll see a lot more survivors than there currently is, due to having a much more active role in the round, and something more to do than just "survive."
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): So, have several jobs circling around that will be randomly given to survivors, I've had some ideas, and gotten some ideas from others, and more will be appreciated. So far, three balanced jobs, and one theoretical job that is more of an antagonist to the marines.
1. Weyland Yutani informant. Possesses a large amount of information on the xenomorphs, and if they survive to be rescued, are to report to the Liason for debriefing, and avoid one of the later jobs. Informants will be given the names of other informants in their notes, so they know who they can trust.
2. Weyland Yutani agent. A trained Weyland Yutani agent, who starts with a bulletproof vest, combat boots, service pistol, two mags, silencer, and a knife. They are tasked with guarding the informants, and then acting as the right hand of the Liason. They start knowing the names of the informants.
3. Anti-Yutani agent. An agent from a rival company, they start with a revolver, one mag, and a machete. (Variable, there could be several companies with different loadouts.), they're tasked with eliminating all of the informants and agents, as well as the Liason. Knows the names of other agents from the same company, does not know the names of Yutani informants or agents.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Not going to just flat out say coding, but create several different roles from the antag code used for Traitors and such on other servers, using different objectives and starting loadouts.

Re: Give Survivors hidden jobs

Anything that would give survivors something cool to do would be interesting. Most of the time going to the Sulaco is just a snorefest, so you're either stuck on the planet as a regular marine or just waiting for the aliens to board in the canteen. I think my favorite survivor moment was when I was CL and three survivors came to the Sully, had a cool background story, and RPed out their time spent on the colony with the command staff. It made me feel like there was some grand conspiracy against me that I had no clue about, and it was awesome. More like that, though I am cautious in antagonistic survivors once they get on the ship.

Re: Give Survivors hidden jobs
+1 possibly include more colony jobs however. Would probably lead to more guided roleplaying
Mainly because we had some great RP from the survivors yesterday where we had like three scientists, a PMC, and a liason who survived (the uniforms they started with and roleplayed it.).

+1. As a survivor with no adminbus to try and get, I decided to deconstruct the ENTIRE BRIEFING and a lot of chairs in cafeteria to revamp briefing. I turned it from four lines of chairs to Canteen 2.0.

Re: Give Survivors hidden jobs
Sounds cool just dont like idea about antags because we already have CL who can (or at least could) act hostilely towards marines and xenos already badass enough to not let'em gain additional benefits from diversions on Sulaco. On the other hand, some kind of EarthGov secret agent or undercover journalist which infiltrate to dig some dirty info to bust WY might be interesting and totally not balance shifting (even if theyll recieve task to take CL as hostage or kill him to get info).

Re: Give Survivors hidden jobs
The CL needs admins to give him objectives, and even those might not be antag objectives, and it happens very rarely.qDan wrote:Sounds cool just dont like idea about antags because we already have CL who can (or at least could) act hostilely towards marines and xenos already badass enough to not let'em gain additional benefits from diversions on Sulaco. Re: Give Survivors hidden jobs
A very nice suggestion but that ruins the role of being a survivor, instead of just killing marines and they get salty. Your task is just to survive not become a marine on a station or becoming a agent, your just a employee on a colony. Sorry but -1
The FitnessGram™ Pacer Test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues. The 20 meter pacer test will begin in 30 seconds. Line up at the start. The running speed starts slowly, but gets faster each minute after you hear this signal. [beep] A single lap should be completed each time you hear this sound. [ding] Remember to run in a straight line, and run as long as possible. The second time you fail to complete a lap before the sound, your test is over. The test will begin on the word start. On your mark, get ready, start.

-remove the merc bit because they will just piss of the marines that survivors will probably start to just get targeted by marines since they don't know if they will mess up ship or not.

Yeah, that was the theoretical one, but the undercover agent warfare will do.Jack McIntyre wrote:-remove the merc bit because they will just piss of the marines that survivors will probably start to just get targeted by marines since they don't know if they will mess up ship or not.

Re: Give Survivors hidden jobs
They're employees on a WEY-YU colony, the agents from other governments would be trying to get Wey-Yu technology, and basically every scientist would be an Informant, while the security team would be the Wey Yu agents.coolsurf6 wrote:A very nice suggestion but that ruins the role of being a survivor, instead of just killing marines and they get salty. Re: Give Survivors hidden jobs
I'd just like survivors to get some form of ID tags so they aren't ripped apart by the dropship sentry guns when they're about to be evac'd. That is quite an oversight in my opinion - what's the fun in being a survivor if you only last 15 or so minutes for the majority of the round?

They're only against Wey-Yu, but marines can be caught in the crossfire.Adjective wrote:Ehhhh. +1 if they aren't against USCM as antags.

Re: Give Survivors hidden jobs
Survivors actually do begin with a job now, it's just not straight up explained to the player. It all depends on the jumpsuit and choice of equipment, like the Colonial Marshall. We may modify this to add more jobs or give some kind of notice in the future. Resolved and locked for now.
