What was your most dramatic/emotional round?

Post by Monoo » 10 May 2016, 20:11

I haven't experienced any of the best kinds of dramatic and sad rounds, though they're my favorite type. It's why I like Sulaco defense, last stands, and conversations with nested marines.

Anyhoo, I'm a bit tired of reading about people's funniest story or their finest, most action-packed moments, so I made this thread to hear about their sad stories.

One of my first weeks here (so far back I was actually playing a standard), an engineer and I were told to guard engineering on the colony. We were left on our own after we lost most of our squad and had to deal with T2s and T3s constantly smashing the outer barricades as we slowly starved to death due to our only source of food being coffee. We managed to escape to the nexus after a desperate charge out the back when it was obvious we weren't going to last much longer. Keep in mind this was back when aliens were still bullet sponges so even runners were pretty intimidating for a new player. This was one of the early rounds that got me hooked on CM. I was lucky enough to have several really awesome rounds before my first briefing massacre.
Aka Dennis Hunt the (usually) overworked medic/doctor.
Currently AWOL due to my computer dying.

I have two events which were pretty dramatic. The first one was when Xur, I believe was our squad leader, and us were sat the Tablefort while the Nexus was getting hit hard by the aliens. We decided to attack the hive while a lot of the aliens were on the offensive. We were about to breach when we heard the aliens dispersed from the FoB and we're going back to the Hive, mbut we kept attacking. We broke a wall and there were about 5 aliens, including the queen, behind it. We all tried to retreat, but all the xenos who we're attacking Nexus came up on our rear and we were cornered. Xur did the only thing he could do, popped an OB, which blew all of us up, along with some aliens.

Another event is on the Ice map, but this also happened on the planet one. So, Imwas a squad leader and I got hit up pretty bad. The medics were low on supplies, so we had to remain in a garage while aliens were trying to pick us off. We began to be over-run, so we booked it out of there. It was pretty intense due to people trying to cover the media while they patched me up, and all of us running from a horde of xenos while I was getting extracted.

Another dramatic round was when I got one-hit by a ravager which broke my rubs and cut my non-robotic arm off. I tried to make it back to Nexus, as we were at the table fort when this happened. However, I was alone and collapsed on the beach, dying slowly. I was pretty sure I was gonna die there, but called out for help, nonetheless. I heard a predator who I hoped would save me or something, but it didn't hear or see me, so I layed on the beach, slowly loosing blood and my wounds becoming infected. However, a lone marine wandered by and saw me. He dragged my back to the FoB so a medic could make sure I would survive the journey back to the Sulaco. That was pretty dramatic, as I was sure I was going to die and no one would find my body or the aliens would get to my first. Thanks to that marine who saved me.

Good stories.

One time in pre-alpha I was helping the only surviving group of marines after the Sulaco was taken over. They breached briefing and we legged it to the bridge. The bridge was in the center of the ship in pre-alpha, and was separated from the outside by reinforced windows. I was pretry new and clumsy then, so I had taken a big hit to the head. The commander himself dragged me inside as the engineers sealed off the doors. My wound was getting bad at this point and I was limp on the ground. Managed to say through stutters that it was an honor serving with the commander, and he expressed the same. Aliens broke through and everyone ran for the north escape shuttle... without me. Somehow, I'm not sure how, I was able to stand up and distracted the xenos long enough for everyone else to get in before I got torn to pieces.

I had an M41A with every slot filled with an attachment. Shit was so cash. But it was before magnetic harnesses.

Named my gun 'Sheila'. Sheila and I went everywhere together. Guarding fobs. Killing ayys. Then I got downed and hugged. Sheila was lost to the annals of time.

There is a hole in my heart no pimped out M41A can replace like Sheila did. Press F to pay respects.

Everyone has that one buddy in a round who is your wingman.

Mine was my squad engineer partner we had worked as a team the whole round survived attacks had each others backs everytime. Once he solo'd a rav after it took my hand and was ready to rip me to pieces.

We survived losing table fort after heavy losses and made it across the river pulling him behind me after he was mauled by hunters. Scrounged supplies at the medidome to keep him from bleeding out.

Kept my buddy alive all the way back to the sulaco. We patched up and built our best defence that was over run in the final push. We retreated for the escape pods 30 seconds till launch. Thats when he was slammed by a crusher on the final leg through cafeteria. ran in guns blazing to save him, he was done , the pods launched, i suicided into a hunter with my last grenade out of rage

Buddys till the end
Mainly play - SL , SG , SO

A half assed heroic that plagiarizes all his war speeches
