Adjust The Distrubition of Pulse Rifle Attachments In The Lockers
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Instead of having the lockers stow 30 M4 Pulse Rifles with Grenade Launcher attachments, instead store 10 with the Skeleton Key, 10 with the Mini-Flamer, and finally 10 with the Grenade Launcher.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): We'll see more use of the various under barrel attachments across the board during regular play, squad makeup will be more diverse, players will have the ability to experiment with their loadouts and identity within the squad during play.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Grenade launchers are the most effective under barrel attachment currently in use, and it's given away for free to all marines. In contrast, its much weaker counterparts are harder to come buy, are less useful, and take away from a marine's standard two order allotment from the RO. With each weapon locker carrying 10 of each variant, marines will have a chance to actually use these new weapon systems, whereas right now experimenting with the weaker, less useful cousins of the grenade launcher hurts the marine in the requisition office, so they ignore those attachments entirely.

Re: Adjust The Distrubition of Pulse Rifle Attachments In The Lockers
It's standard issue and at current the only one worth much use at all.
The flamer has a two tile range and is terrible and the shotgun (I hear) has limited use too.
If attachments could be hotkeyed or something maybe the shotgun would be good so if you're being charged you could pointblank a xeno into the face.
+0 untill attachments are rebalanced.

Re: Adjust The Distrubition of Pulse Rifle Attachments In The Lockers
The skeleton key attachment is still bad compared to the grenade launcher, but funnily enough it's better than the actual pump shotgun since you don't have an oppressive fire delay.
I agree though, the attachments could use some work, and I think my suggested change would be the most healthy way to implement underbarrel weapons going forward.

Re: Adjust The Distrubition of Pulse Rifle Attachments In The Lockers
I know this thread didn't get many replies initially but I still think it's a healthy change that should be made to the server.
To reiterate my point from the beginning: No one takes the masterkey and mini-flamer attachment because, by default, pulse rifles come with the superior weapon system, namely the grenade launcher. Almost no one uses their 2-3 requisition points to take anything else because it's a waste and a straight up downgrade, or at least perceived as such by the players. Put the masterkey and mini-flamer pulse rifle variants in the weapons locker by default and let marines experiment with them freely, because right now they hurt themselves too much in the RO line by going this route and the weapon systems are largely ignored.
I think they are undoubtedly underpowered compared to the grenade launcher, but because they rarely even see play it's hard to say what adjustments need to be made to bring them in line. You get more people using them and then your test pool increases and larger conclusions can be made.

+1 because fire and anarchy would ensue.

-1.
Grenade launchers are hands down superior, and because this is true, the others would not and should not see use. Buff the other attachments and we'll talk.
Personally I'd much rather see Pulse Rifles with magnetic harnesses be a standard option.

I'll give a +1. People will want to experiment, but due to being inferior, they won't waste an attachment point. I, for one, want to check out the Masterkey...

No, you want marines to pick suboptimal choices and be weaker for it

Re: Adjust The Distrubition of Pulse Rifle Attachments In The Lockers
Your argument is very short sighted for the health of the game, Surry.
This change would show the devs that these attachments are underpowered and need to be retuned, because we could potentially see them used en mass for the first time since they were introduced, and then apop and the other devs will finally start making adjustments. But even if we give the masterkey shotgun and min-flamer the most generous buffs we possibly can (being able to reload the shotgun, adding more range/shots from the mini-flamer), most marines still WILL NOT change to anything else because, once again, using 1 of your allotments from requisitions to get these attachments isn't worth it no matter how good they are, so they are destined to be used by almost no one for the entire life of the game unless we change how they are given out.

Re: Adjust The Distrubition of Pulse Rifle Attachments In The Lockers
I'd run one of those attachments over my bipod if it were actually worth it (and the grenade launcher definitely is at times, like Sulaco defense).
Also, there's plenty of data on how shitty these things are already.

I'm not that Alien biased. Jesus. I actually PLAY Marine sometimes, and I LIKE it, but I prefer Doctor and Alien for a number of reasons.Surrealistik wrote:No, you want marines to pick suboptimal choices and be weaker for it

You've put a lot of thought into this. Well said. +1 from me.Fritigern wrote:Your argument is very short sighted for the health of the game, Surry.

Re: Adjust The Distrubition of Pulse Rifle Attachments In The Lockers
This isn't a first person shooter. A lot of equipment options are based on personal preference, and some of them are sub-standard. That is intentional. The attachments are really there to provide some alternative means of dealing damage, and with the recent changes all of them are good in one way or another. The point is, you are not supposed to have immediate access to them because they are not standard. Denied.Fritigern wrote:Your argument is very short sighted for the health of the game, Surry.
