A small rule addition

Post by Lucius Jones » 20 May 2016, 18:11

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Due to marines being allowed to loot fallen comrades willy nilly, or as I have been told by a mod, I thought it prevalent to suggest that marines should not be allowed to loot items such as SL Armour from there dead squad leaders, Spec Armour or anything of the sort.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Stop normal marines being decked out in squad leader Armour. Who just gets the SL's body, steals the Armour and presumably does not take it back for cloning as I bet the SL would be mad his Armour is gone. Also increase immersion so no marine is running around decked out in a multitude of equipment.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Make a slight marine rule change that does not allow looting of anything that is not a backpack or a belt, so combat looting for supplies or ammo is allowed, and needed quite a bit, but you do not just steal rare items that the person will want back if cloned. Or prove a unfair advantage to that person who is not trained with the item they have looted. A normal marine may not be able to hand the extra weight the SL Armour has, or something like that.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Just add it as a marine rule 'Marines are not allowed to loot anything that is not a backpack or a belt, or on the persons Armour. No stealing all the dead peoples shoes boys! Or something on the line of that.

what do you mean by small items? You should not be allowed to just ruffle through the deads pockets.

Battlefield scavenging is a thing, and always have been. The dead don't need all their shit. And they can replenish most of it on the sulaco. Their tools are better used by active soldiers until they return to duty.

Should be no limits on scavenging; war doesn't give a shit about decorum: it cares about survival and victory.

if you got time to strip the dead SL in the middle of the battle then sure as hell you got time to fall back to FOB or Sulaco and get supplies in there.
Or have a existing SL in a safe area to ask for supplies with a beacon.

I can understand small things, not the entire Squad leader Armour set (bad idea wearing leader colors in battle, you are wearing a commands staff armour and that may be impersonation of a superior officer). If you have time to loot a marine you have time to put them on a ship and ORDER more supplies.

Why the hell are we ticked off about SL gear? What about that one Marine Standard running around with a fucking looted Smartgun? B18? If anything, we shouldn't be allowed to loot Spec items because a Standard marine would not be trained in how to use it, otherwise ALL marines would have access...

All marines know how to fire a rifle. Doesnt mean they are issued a sniper rifle each.
Falty logic on your side.

Who said you could loot marines willy-nilly?

I think I will update the "looting" rules.

whoa hold the fucking horses here lads, so you know when there's a maze of walls and eggs in the hive and marines waste all their ammo on that, you know where they get more ammo instead of rushing back to the FOB with a fat chance to get ammo from there? oh yeah, exactly. from the fucking dead.
looting is mostly safe and takes less time than returning, ordering ammo, waiting till the shit or not shit RO gets them, then goes the epic beacons meme because loading shit onto the dropship is apparently not a thing, then you wait till they launch it and haul them to the hive to give one mag to each guy and blam no ammo again - so let us not pull that card here.
the no-looting IDs is understandable, turrets exist. no-looting anything else? hah, no - especially with cloning allegedly being removed.
if anything this'll just encourage wallspam, eggspam, any kinda spam more because "hehehe marines will get banned if they loot ammo, and if they run outta ammo we give 'em something to suck on amirite :^)))))"

also the marine salt due to being unable to do shite about it and or counter it apart from turtling.

You shouldn't really be taking SL armor anyways or SPC gear unless you are a SL or SPC (with a few other exceptions).

This doesn't seem to be a problem since some clarifications about who can use spec gear. Resolved for now.
