Reward competent leaders

Post by Grypho » 22 May 2016, 12:48

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Currently you do not benefit anyway if you take your role seriously, you can be a terrible SL/CO by purpose and get away with it. I recommend point system, where staff (or other players?) can give you reward points if you have been playing a responsible role and were competent. (Trying your best is usually enough). Also marines/medics/engineers can be rewarded if they have done well.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):

+ People will start to play responsible roles more actively, such as BO and XO/CO
+ More competent leaders which results in better gameplay experience
+ Something to strive for, something to achieve

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
There could be rewards you could get for different points, like with 10 points you can purchase priority to be assigned to a specific job, with 15 points you are more likely to start off with a gun as survivor, with 20 points you can buy Commodore job and with 40 points Admiral job for example.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):

While I am not against this idea in general. I believe it currently will need a lot of reworking to make it both beneficial and fair. Currently there's a lot of room for favoritism and/or players with seniority getting all the "cool toys". We don't want to make new players lack the ability to 'advance' themselves.

Introduce a karma system while forcing character appearance and name randomization to get the best of both worlds.

But naaah, I don't like this idea, I enjoy playing the way as it is. -1

Probably not right now. Some kind of a karma system isn't out of the question, but denied for now.
