Medic Role for Human ERTs

Post by Snypehunter007 » 28 May 2016, 16:43

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
The human ERTs (Dutch's Dozen, Freelancer Mercenaries, Weyland-Yutani PMCs, Iron Bears, and Weyland-Yutani Commandos) have a player who is the medic for the ERT.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
Allows the ERTs, especially the hostile ERTs, to heal themselves to finish their mission instead of being slowed down due to injuries.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
The medics will add another medic, even if it is just one, to the list of medics and help out with the various injuries that are present.
Also their is would now be a medic who will specifically helps the ERTs.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
I am not very good with implementation but I would imagine just adding a title to one of the ERT members and starting them with medical gear.

Makes sense, but how will we make sure no one that has no idea what in the hell they're doing spawns as it and ODs everyone? That would be a lot worse than having no heals, trust me.

Maybe if we can include one of those handy books I used to see with instructions on how to do shit linking to a medical guide? That's a thing we could do, isn't it? Or maybe add it in as a separate thing you can toggle on for ERT so only people that want it get it?

Neutral unless it could be regulated/simple instructions included in gear/on ship.

Maybe just drop a combat lifesaver bag, medical guide and trauma kit with them and someone assumes the role

Only allow people with doctor or combat medic roles set on to become the ERT medic?
I play as this guy, proudly being dismembered by extraterrestrials since 2015.
Sometimes I might play other guys, you never know.

ERT's on other servers will often have a designated engineer/medic and an ERT Leader. Normally this works well on other servers because in general, high-rp servers have a standard of quality, and if you're shitty, you may end up with a job-ban. CM doesn't have a high standard as far as "knowing how to do the job" goes, so this may not end up working out. Now, if there were ERT roles along with the other job prefs? Like... How Bay12/Polaris had toggleable options for the different antags? That could work, maybe. Iunno, I'm not a coder, I don't know what would be needed to make it work. ERT 'Medic' could be given a "High/Med/Low/Never", etc. That way, a poor sod who doesn't know Medical doesn't end up as the ERT Medic. Or if they do, it's THEIR fault for having it turned on in their job prefs.

I like the idea of linking it to round start preferences, and the ERTs do need someone to keep them alive.

But only in that a few medical supplies will spawn on the ERT shuttle so those that actually know medicine will take them.

Move suggestion to LOCKED and RESOLVED?

we now have new medical equipment in the ERT ships allowing anyone to be the squads medic, if they still need more medical equipment then it can be resuggested?

...

But seriously, does uh, anyone know the way out?!
