Let's change up Resin cuffs rather then remove em.
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Resin cuffs are a "good" idea but VERY badly implemented, I would prefer if resin cuffs were more for Transporting marines then LOL your nested and cuffed LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): This would ONE help xenos transport hosts further across the map without fear of losing the host or death and would remove the Cancer known as Tacklespamming. This would also benefit the Playerbase as it would reduce the SALT by 200%.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): When someone is captured and hugged the Xeno (Warrior Class) would be able to resin cuff you to prevent further attempts to escape. When your nested the cuffs would be dissolved upon nesting, IF the marine is rescued before nesting the Marines would be able "uncuff" them by using a knife to cut through the resin.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Coding possible spriting.

Yeah, nope. If you really want to get rid of devouring, Aliens need to be able to drag people into tunnels.Joe4444 wrote:+1.we could even hit 2 birds with one stone and use this a excuse to get rid of devouring!
As for the suggestion, I think resin cuffs are fine the way they are. By the time the marine wakes up they're nested, so a transport buff isn't needed, ESPECIALLY since only builder castes can make them, who shouldn't be outside a fortified position ever. Besides, now that marines can choose when to escape, resin cuffs are essential, since it would be so easy to suicide without them.
And yes, I read that you'd suggest warrior castes would be able to do it, but how? They don't possess any resin making ability, and if they did, why have drones?

A iffy +1 from me. They basically can already do that but they have to be nested first to be transported like that so yea..

because hunters can't build anything else? that's what drones do. Cuffing is a secondary thing[Boltersam wrote:

No, I mean, if hunters could make resin cuffs, they can make other things out of resin. What would be the point of Drones and other builder castes, then?Joe4444 wrote: because hunters can't build anything else? that's what drones do. Cuffing is a secondary thing[

simple, don't let them build stuff. They don't have to as Gameplay>loreBoltersam wrote: No, I mean, if hunters could make resin cuffs, they can make other things out of resin. What would be the point of Drones and other builder castes, then?

+1 on tweaking it. So many dramas caused by tackle spammimg a host home or the annoyance of devouring someone for too long. Ex. having someone in your gut and having to out manouver marines costing time

I'm not talking about lore, I'm talking about realism. If hunter castes could make resin, drones would be useless, and so removed.Joe4444 wrote: simple, don't let them build stuff. They don't have to as Gameplay>lore
Then again, talking about realism in a sci-fi universe.

Hunter have a tinier resin gland, so they produce so little resin to be actually useful for building but instead just to make cuffs, while drones have a bigger resin gland and produce way much more resin making them useful for buildingBoltersam wrote: I'm not talking about lore, I'm talking about realism. As you said, the cuffs would only be removed when nested and the captured marines can't struggle out of the transportresin on their own. But what if the xenos start to exploit this by not building nests but they would just build 4 walls and leave the cuffed marine in the middle? No chance of escape then when the captured one can't do anything but wait.

just make them normal cuffs so you can brake out. Of course if they do that you can just brake out, take out whatever weapon you have and knock down a wallDude4Life wrote:As you said, the cuffs would only be removed when nested and the captured marines can't struggle out of the transportresin on their own. The cuffs are breakable if they don't drag you, Plus dragging a cuffed host about when their in the hive is powergamingDude4Life wrote:As you said, the cuffs would only be removed when nested and the captured marines can't struggle out of the transportresin on their own. Facehuggers knock marines out completely for a good 3 or so minutes. If you and your 3 spitter buddies can't nest a completely immobilized marine in that amount of time you probably don't deserve to capture that marine.
I agree though that, as it stands, all the resin cuffs do is make it impossible to escape from nests. If that's intentional then getting nested might as well kick you out of your body immediately since you're completely out of the game when it happens. Tacklespamming might be tedious but it's definitely not as bad a gameplay feature as effectively being one-hit-killed when an alien throws two facehuggers at you.

+1 and a bump. Im for giving a little change to the whole nesting/hugging system to something a little bit more healthier and i think this would xenos the tools to try and safely transport marines. With this change, escaping nests becomes a one step process instead of two which can be adjusted a little bit easier for gameplay. Huggers can be less incapacitating because xenos now have an alternative to rely on in the form of a drone castes resin cuffs. All in all, i think this is a good tool for xenos to have and makes sense.

No longer relevant as resin cuffs have been removed from the game.
