So does it make sense I was PMed by our lovable HeadMod to stop killing monkeys as a survivor, with a meta pass?
Fast forward to just a few minutes ago. Playing as everyone's favorite asshole, Saul Freytia, and sitting around on FOB duty with literally nothing to do. Seeing disobeying orders and abandoning the FOB as a wrongful act, I proceeded to kill two monkeys that were dragged into the FOB by other marines for several reasons.
Reason One: In the words of General Rommel, "In the absence of orders, go find something and kill it." So I did.
Reason Two: I roleplay Saul as a sadistic little shit who would happily kill a monkey like a normal person smashes a bug. Throughout history, people have joined the military simply to kill something. Quoting Joker from Full Metal Jacket, "I wanted to kill, sir." So why was I called a metagamer for simply killing a monkey? Even knowing if they had been facehugged wouldn't change the resolve of someone looking to end a life for kicks.
Reason Three: Simple fucking boredom. Sitting at a barricade with zero hostiles anywhere for the next ten hundred yards, why not get some practice in with the local wildlife?
I'm not at all discrediting being banned for metagaming. But this is a reoccurring theme I enjoy bringing up. The staff don't seem to think there's any roleplaying involved at any time, especially when it may involve metagaming. Here's a quick solution. If you're going to treat Colonial Marines like Hippie Station, DON'T FUCKING CALL IT MEDIUM ROLEPLAY!
If any type of Roleplay leading to possible rulebreaking can be discredited with accusations of metagaming or griefing, don't claim to have a roleplaying server.
And I would love to point out that I am not discrediting the "Marines wouldn't hire someone who's a lunatic and would do crazy things. So don't do crazy things." rule, but I am bringing up the fact that we have people with eyepatches, old people, and very goddamn eccentric people in the Colonial Marines for whatever goddamn reason. So how can you shrug off a physical disability but shoot down any type of sadistic behavior as being unrealistic and bad for the gameplay?
So I ask now, at the end of this rant, what's the big fucking deal with monkeys? I can't metakill them when given permission to meta, I can't kill them with a legitimate roleplaying reason that would totally fit in real life. So what's the big fucking deal? When can we kill them? Why not just make them invincible since they're so goddamn protected for fucks sake.
