Add Camera Assemblies to Metal Build List

Post by Surrealistik » 01 Jun 2016, 20:21

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):

Allow Engineers to manufacture Camera Assemblies from metal stacks (yes, I'm aware you can autolathe CAs; the problem is that doing so is time intensive and impractical due to the precious slots CAs take up, and you're probably not even allowed to bring crates of them with you per the anti-hoarding on first trip rules)

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):

Lets Engineers set up cameras to give Command more eyes on the action other than SL helmets and help monitor the ground situation.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):

Per summary and benefits.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):

Add Camera Assemblies to the list of things that can be made with metal stacks.

Already possible via autolathe, Cargo has one.
(At least it was possible two weeks ago)

Engineering also has one in the lower decks. And yes, it is possible still.

Autolathe is super impractical though; during the initial gear up you don't have room for the assemblies, nevermind waiting on the lathe to print them for you (taking a crate full of assemblies would also probably be in violation of the 'no supply hoards on the first trip down' rule).

Really not a fan of building complex equipment using only metal.
If you think its a good idea- ask MT/s Cargo to print em.

I would rather just have squad engie vendors start with some. I mean it makes sense to have them set up cameras in the AO so logistics can actually be useful.

Airlock and APC assemblies?

There isn't even a supply drop for camera parts, and it takes forever to print the damn things. If using camera assemblies were practical as is, they'd actually see some use as opposed to never being deployed.

Agreed. Denied.

Sidenote, I actually thought you could make them from metal, but this is far more logical.
