Get Rid of Wall Eggs

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):

So, now that I demonstrated what a terrible cancer this is and made everyone mad after a 30+ : 1 reversal win by exploiting the fuck out of it as Queen (shout outs to my Ravagers/Hunters that round btw; love you guys), can we get rid of this bullshit?

In case it's ambiguous, this would be eggs concealed by walls/doors and other objects built over them.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):

Building any kind of physical/blocking structure over an egg deletes the egg.

Except for the fact that they're spammable as fuck and got me at least 10 or so spawn after I was reduced to a lone queen while bolstering my xenos on defense. They're cancer, and they take way too much effort to deal with relative to the ease of abusing them.

Eggwalls entirely delayed the round for an additional 50+ minutes, kept a huge portion of people in spectator mode watching a single Xeno run in circles around a giant cave system making incredibly dense wall eggs that marines must shoot through.

It's powergamey as well, and abusing the limited engine the byond system has. I'd like it removed / punishable.

Also, have mines be able to be destroyed by boiler acid, because fuck them and that'd make boilers more special, someone steal that idea give me cred or what the fuck ever. ofc +1 from me, you'd be a retard to not support the cancer train from not crashing and burning in hell.

Actually, that one round I played Queen, aliens yelled at me both IC and OOC to make wall eggs. Eventually I gave in just to shut them up, but tried to make them as ineffective as possible, because I would classify it as powergaming.

I agree that being able to cover eggs with resin walls should be viewed as a bug, not a feature. Eggwalling is often used by queens who are using stalling tactics past the 14:00 mark, exacerbating the boring, glacially slow process of dismantling a hive - especially when the xeno queen builds these eggwalls to be several layers thick.

I remember this same topic got brought up in the deadchat, and the central counter-argument from the xenomorph players was that eggwalls were the equivalent of marines hiding their claymore mines under objects like table parts and empty snack wrappers. While I do not entirely think it's a fair comparison, I believe many xeno players will call for an adjustment to landmines as a compromise for losing eggwalls. I propose that if eggwalling is removed, xenos should be able to melt landmines with corrosive acid.

As DMAN mentioned, landmine walls are a fairly dull and low-effort tactic as they are. I haven't actually seen how the work in-game, but if landmines have the ability to activate eachother - in the sense that a xeno stepping on a mine ends up damaged by two or more overlapping blasts simultaneously - then that should also be adjusted or removed. Landmines that are caught in the radius of adjacent mines should break without detonating.

It's not comparable because Eggwalls are much, _much_ more spammable, and mines take much less time and effort to counter.

If everyone was completely honest, we could agree that hidden mines are not even in the same ballpark as eggwalls. Seriously, if you can't be bothered to right click the pile of debris at the obvious chokepoint everyone has been laying mines at since the beginning of time, you deserve everything you get. True there may be mines hidden in unusual places every once and a while, but the random plastic bag or pile of wood in the middle of nowhere should at least tip you off.

you have a nice immune to explosions caste called a crusher, so if you're unable to call them in to disarm, it's entirely your problem. either that, or suck it up and avoid the area. melting the mines is just going to be plain bullshite.

Correction, Crushers are just immune to explosive stuns. They still take damage.

Plus, not everyone wants to be a Crusher. There's no guarantee there will be a Crusher, or a Crusher that isn't busy fighting somewhere else, to clear the mine.

Eggwalls and Mines are the definition of false equivalency for reasons mentioned earlier, so let's get off that.

I remember in pre alpha playing as a queen once, I was alone, so I decided to build an over complicated hive with traps, so I started placing eggs under alien doors, traps everywhere, managed to get at least 10 marines down doing this, that feature was removed shortly afterwards but it's back in alpha.

I'd give this a +1 not only that occasion but many rounds in which I have been in, clearing nests, to find doors or walls filled with em. Two huggers or 1 in a row of walls is a tad meta or rather powergaming. I think it is honestly BS because squad of marines say clearing a nest walks by a row of walls, bam all of them huggered without realizing or avoiding it, obviously in a nest, they'd clear the egg or be smart not to step near it, they don't get a chance to survive it.

Uh. You know what? Making mines meltable would be...pretty funny? Because you know, don't you have to be NEXT TO something to melt it? And an alien being next to a mine causes it to, well, explode. Because it's a proximity mine. And if you're close enough to melt it then you don't need to melt it because it's detonated in your face.
